Hi I am really struggling with this. Hooking up ipad to UI24r and it is showing up as an interface on the ipad. All routing set on the UI24r and everything working fine. Excellent. Suddenly not working. Ui24r still showing up on the ipad but no signal being received on the UI24r. I posted about this when I first transferred to Stage Trax and with a reboot it started working. Now it has stopped again without changing anything and the reboot doesn't work.
UI24r as interface
Maybe try another usb adapter or cable. But lacking a UI24r, I can not help, sorry. Maybe someone else has experience with that device.
Thanks Peter - Yeah a just ordered an apple adaptor and see how that goes.
DirtBlonde let us know. I am curious cause I too own an UI24r.
Roadster I got it working and this is what I found. First - I tried different lightning to USB adaptors and different USB A to B cables but that wasn't the problem. Not saying that couldn't be a potential issue but for me it wasn't.
So the app needs to be on and the iPad hooked up to the mixer before turning on the mixer. If this doesn't happen then you will see the mixer in the app but no sound gets sent. Weird but that is how it works.
Next, make sure your routing is correct, I made the mistake thinking the soundcraft ui24 numbers I see in the app correspond to the mixer channels but they don't. What you see in the app are the usb slots. You then need to go to the mixer and patch those slots to a channel. I ended up using slots 1-8 in the app and assigning them to channels 17-24 in the mixer.
So far so good it has been running stable, connecting and working as expected over the last few days.

Did you manage to find a solution or just have to put up with it? I’m having the exact same problem and as you said connect the iPhone to the ui24 before you turn it on and have the app open and it works but if I go to another app or use my phone for something then go back to app it stops working and I have to reboot the whole mixer again, real nuisance
abbo69 Not really so I just put up with it. Sometimes it's stable for weeks I can unplug the ipad, close the app and when I plug it back in it works. Then other times I have to reboot. I haven't got to a cause yet although 1 gig it lasted up to the last set then kept disconnecting which I think was caused by when the smoke machine kicked in as worked ok the rest of the night when I turned it off. So I'm thinking maybe its the power stability that causes it behave well or not. Still working on solution.
- Plug in the ipad and turn on the app
- Connect via camera kit to ui24 to the usb b socket
- Boot up ui24r
- On app under settings go to 'audio device setup'
- Under 'multitrack outputs' set 'track 1 output' to 'Soundcraft Ui24 01'
- do same for rest of track outputs. 2 to 2, 3 to 3 etc. (Note it doesn't have to be 1 for 1 as you configure in the ui24r next, this is just what I do)
- go to ui24 and open the 'patching tab
- press 'usb-daw 1-16'
- if you followed steps above the the blue numbers 1 to 8 along the top are your channels 1 to 8 from stage trax
- route them to whatever channels you want to use on the ui24 (brown vertical numbers on the right). ( i route to ch 17 to 24 so I can make use of the virtual channels)
- done, hope that helps
DirtBlonde thanks very much for the reply!
Interesting about the smoke machine!?!
Is the smoke machine controlled through the ui24 somehow or was it just plugged into the same power output or something?
Certainly not ideal if you lose control of your tracks halfway through a gig!
I’ve got a Scarlett 8i6 laying about I might test it with and see if it’s related to the UI24 , would be nice to be able to use the UI and not have to lug more gear to gigs though
I've been using the same steps that DirtBlonde outlined above and the problem persists randomly. I can't put my finger on what might be causing it. The sound dropped out twice during our opening song at a show last night and we had to reboot the mixer twice. Once rebooted, everything works fine...until it happens again. Has anyone had continuing success?
DachsKrieger sounds like you have an intermittent connection , I assume you are using an adaptor to get an audio out from device, I found when my devices start playing up when it comes to charging or connecting it’s usually the device socket that needs cleaning , dust and grime gets in after a while which makes a not so reliable connection , it’s just a total guess as I don’t know any of your setup, that’s why I use the older devices with headphone jacks which are a lot more reliable.
Good luck.

Damir So, just to explain further. I am using an iPad Pro (w/latest ios), connecting to my Ui24R via usb c to b to play backing tracks from ST3. Everything connects up fine and I can play my tracks until the sound goes dead (this could be after 20 seconds or 45 minutes - seemingly random). The only way to get sound again is to cycle the mixer off/on.
I just realized yesterday that this occurs with ST3 and any other music software on the iPad. I tried different cables and there was no success. I took one of the same cables, connected it between my Windows PC and the mixer and I haven't had a drop since. I played a couple hours of music this morning - rock solid. With a reasonable amount of certainty, the problem is the compatibility between the iPad and mixer. I am going to try a MacBook which would be fine for me to use on stage for our tracks. I'll report back what I find.
I still don't have a solution. Thinking maybe a playaudio12 in between or new mixer.

Have u tried updating your Ui24R with latest firmware in case that might be a problem.
DirtBlonde hi - I use a ui24 with my iPad Pro and it’s alls well.
I noted on your thread the smoke machine - they are well known to push back on the main supply spikes of electricity (when they turn on n off the smoker) … happened to us a few years ago.. ableton connected direct and then it’s dead
Turns out the UI24 is quite susceptible to spikes in electric
We purchased a special adapter to clean the electricity and reduce spikes caused by the smoke machine
The UI is very temperamental with spikes in electricity
Cheers
Nick
Damir yes I have the latest firmware.
DirtBlonde Hmm!, thats why i only use headphone out from ipad, i was thinking of changing to latest digital small mixer , now i think i might stay with my analog path that has never let me down.
Goodluck with the solution
Cheers Damir

To me this means a socket problem on your ipad,as its the only thing that was common, and when you use the same leads on on your PC you have no issues.
Have you checked the inside of you lightning socket on the ipad?
I wanted to post an update here. Following these steps, I have had reliable success.
Plug the usb to your iPad but Do not connect the usb B end of the cable to the ui24 yet.
Have ST3 running.
Turn on your ui24.
THEN plug the usb B end of the cable to the ui24.
Everything should connect and stay stable.
