I'm crossing over to ST3 from OnSong to take advantage of the individual tracks so I can mute any track.
OnSong can export many different types of files. I can export set lists, books or my entire collection of songs as a txt file. This displays the lyrics with the chords above the lyrics. I can also export a chopro file where it displays the chords in brackets within the lyrics.
Can ST3 export the entire list of songs in either format?
The ST3 backup files are in .st3 format. This can only be viewed by ST3. It would be great to save a txt and/or chopro file for use in other apps or to send to other musicians who don't use ST3.
Yes I can export individual songs, but I have hundreds of songs and would like to do a bulk dump of everything to a readable/printable file.
Thanks
David
Exporting all songs to a txt or chopro file

Hi, I’ve spent two months moving 600+ songs over from OnSong to ST3 so I can use timeline and multitrack backing tracks. I began with using OnSong export as chordpro files and ended up using cuts and paste to get midi commands from my OnSong files which did not transfer with chordpro and spent hours doing further edits [especially the chord spacing on lines which had no lyrics]
MIDI syntax is different in OnSong and all my midi channel references were needing to be changed as OnSong uses ch0, but ST3 begins ch1 , plus the format is reversed. The word [Midi: ] on OnSong MUST BE LOWER CASE IN ST3 [midi: ] or commands are ignored
Stuff like that. I feel there should be a FAQ page for tips and general help moving from OnSong
There is no bulk export for lyrics, sorry.
Midimannz Hi Midimannz, I feel your pain having done this sort of thing numerous times in my 50 year old hobby musical career , but ST3 is a new concept to OnSong or other players so it is not following the old rules it is making new ones so it can’t be expected to do everything the easy way, I would just start using it as intended and grab whatever you can salvage from other programs to complete your new work of art , yes it will take a bit of effort but you will end up with something that really works well on stage.
If Peter created everything to suit everyone ST3 would become another Bloated OnSong and that’s what we don’t want or need.
Good luck with it, perhaps it’s a good time to rehash the playlist as well
I agree completely. I do feel if there were ‘clues’ to an easier change over, I may have saved at least a month off my journey
peter Hi Peter. Thanks for an incredible app and amazing support.
Is there a way to individually export lyrics only from an ST3 audio file with lyrics? I too would like to be able to use ST3 for my lyric only files and stop using OnSong for them.
Also, is there, or do you plan to create a way, to be able to import lyrics from other platforms like OnSong?
I'm not sure I understand the question correctly. You can already export lyrics from within the lyrics editor.
I don't plan lyrics import functionality for proprietary formats like OnSong. It takes way too much time to reverse engineer closed file formats to make it worthwhile.
