Newbie iPad MIDI question

Hi all and happy holidays!
We're happily transitioning from years with OnSong (no comment - lol) and doing live backing tracks for the first time, as my wife and I go from trio with drums to duo with backing track drums.
I've been binge watching tutorials and RTFM for a couple of weeks.
I'll be sending MIDI out from my iPad to 4 or 5 devices. All wired, no Bluetooth.
How do I assign a MIDI receive channel to her iPad?
I'll be sending her iPad both PC to select songs and CC start command for playback.

doctorvague you can’t im afraid. At least not from ST. You can control hers via a host session or vice Versa.

Lishy Thanks for your reply. I figured out that it's not necessary - you basically assign it per song with the "@1" at the end of the receiver's MIDI info. We did it get it working. Now I'm on to other issues.

Actually ST3 works independently of midi channels. You can specify any midi command on any channel to trigger song selection (at the bottom of song details). Once this is done, you just need to send the same command from the other ST3 instance.

But, as @Lishy already wrote: why not use the network feature?

peter Thanks, Peter. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the network feature. Even though we're on the same song, my wife's lyrics/notes are totally different than mine (I sing and play guitar, she plays key bass). One of us may use lyrics and the other PDF, etc. Also, from personal experience I would never trust Bluetooth or Wi-fi for live gigging. I'm using hard-wired MIDI and PC commands at present. Changing Live Sets on her MODX+ took me 2 days to figure out. I'll post separately about that experience.

One thing I don't know and it isn't explained as far as I could tell, is the Song Select command - how that would work, when you would use it etc.

When you bring your own wifi router with 5GHz wifi, it usually works reliably even in crowded environments.

The song select is just a midi command. Whenever that command is received, Stage Traxx will select that song.
