iPhone 11 & ST3 can’t see my Behringer XR18?

Help, multitrack audio routing issue.

I purchased a lightning to USB-B cable to run multi track audio into my Behringer XR18.

I have an older Ipad mini running OS13 with the last edition it will load of ST3, this works fine and when the app opens I can see and select the XR18 tracks to send audio to . I can hear the audio in the XR18. This is the version that has only 6 output tracks.

When I connect my newer iPhone and the latest version of ST3 it will just not see the XR18, the only audio output options are speaker L and R. I’ve tried starting the app first, the XR18 first, all the combinations but nothing changes.

What am I doing wrong? is there some setting in either ST3 or the iPhone with newer OS and App versions that I need to select to get the two to see and talk to each other?

I really want to use the iphone and have also been thinking about a new Ipad but I want to make sure it works first and at the moment it doesn’t!

Hm, that's strange. I just tried it with my iPhone 11 and the XR18 with the Apple Camera Connection Kit and it just works without the need to restart the app.

Works perfectly with the older ipad and app version, but the latest version of the app and my iphone no go at all. Any other ideas?

I tried a lightning to USB B cable, and I couldn't get it to work. The only success I've had is using the Apple Camera/USB dongle.

You need the proper dongle and I encourage you to use the official Apple one

Was hoping not to spend $80’on an apple adapter !! 😂 but why does it work with an old Ipad but not a new phone if it’s just a cable issue?
Someone told me it maybe a UAC1 and UAC2 issue, they told be to change the XR18 to 2x2 mode and if it then see it then sees the XR18, if so then that’s the problem.
I’ll do that today and report back.

OK, I tried a few things today and nothing helped. I swapped from 2x2 mode to 18x18 mode and still no connection. However on my old ipad it saw these changes instantly and updated the audio routing options.
I also tried many different connection sequences, but they also did not change a thing.
No matter what, with my iphone there is no XR18 to be seen.
Any other bright ideas?
I am happy to buy a official apple camera adapter but really to see how this would help, as it doesn’t make sense that it works with OS13 and an older version of ST, but not a newer OS and the latest version of ST.
That feels like a OS or ST issue rather than the connection….

This was a simple fix for us when we added new equipment. You might’ve already done it but make sure all windows are closed. No open pages on your iphone.

Check with any other app that plays music. Like Apple Music or Spotify. They always use the latest recognized audio interface.

Just a n update:
Tried all sorts of things but nothing worked.
Dropped $85 on an apple camera kit and now all sorted and the XR18 is recognised.
So weird the aliexpress cable works with the old ipad but not the newer phone….

JohnGNZ Apple change things as they update the software and dont really care for other brands beeing compatible as it benefits them to be the only product that actually fully works , its a money thing large companies do you could see it as a money grab war behind the scenes the customers are not suppose to know but its there and very obvious , its not just Apple, so we the customer have to keep on empying or pockets, it makes the world go aroun, 🤪😂😱🤮
My old analog gear is still working like the day a bought it 40 years ago my phone is out of date within 1 year.

JohnGNZ $85 for the Apple camera connection kit? Wow, here in Europe it costs just 25 Euro and 40 for the one with USB3 and an additional charging port.

But I have also given up on third party adapters. Too unreliable.

I am using Stage Traxx 3 and trying to multitrack into the XR18 - ipad Pro. Only seeing XR18 L/R available. Not the individual channels. I keep seeing online that there is a switch in the XAir app that you can change usb input from 2x2 to 18x18, but it's nowhere to be found for me. I know, settings/audio/midi - but not there. And their screenshots of the app appear different than mine. IOS nor Android. Any help appreciated. Thanks

You can find the switch in Setup in the X-Air Edit app:

Thank you, Peter. I finally looked in the "PC" version of XAir edit and it was there. And that did the trick. That selection isn't available in the IOS or Android apps of XAir edit.
