Improving TEXT EXPORT

Hi Peter, would it be possible to give the user a more flexible TEXT export function by being able to export Text in playlist and song mode using the Edit button where you can select multiple songs or all songs and then simply choose TEXT EXPORT or PDF export, but on top of that a selection option to leave out TIME-CODES and CHORDS , so the user can export the whole selected list in one hit and the end result would be exactly how they want it.
At the moment this feature is buried well in the TEXT editor and gives no easy way to leave the timecode and chords out unless you delete them in the editor, I normally want the text and chords as an export without TC but I don’t want my timecode deleted on ST3, is there a possible way to achieve this simply and not bloat the menu system, having this in playlist and song export makes it easy to get to instead of having to go to text editor and gives you multiple song export options which really saves time , you can also leave the function in the single song text edit mode but give us timecode/chord leave out option as a single song export option , but by having this in the other two areas really gives the user very powerful and fast alternative to achieve something that normally takes days and months to do in a simple button push.

The share dialog in iOS only allows for a single file if I'm not mistaken. So exporting multiple lyrics files is not possible. Except all lyrics are written to a single file or everything is zipped up in archive.

👍 thought id ask, what about the single file export with option to leave timecode, chords or both out of the export process ?

You can already export lyrics as is or the way they are rendered. In the latter case it will use whatever rendering settings you have setup (with/without chords, font, …).

Ok, so how do i export lyrics without chords yet still keep chords in my song on ST3 ?
How do i export lyrics and chords without timecode but still keep the timecode on my ST3?
I have been saving everything in a text file , then removing the timecode in the editor saving that to another file then reloading the text file with all in place again, i still dont know how to remove the chords and export the text only , is there a way to do that simply?

How is that the answer?
I am very happy with synced lyrics and the programming of them and the ability to add chords and if I change key the chords auto change for me , the synced line lyrics give me a very good idea to where I am in the song and I can have it all very large on screen to see at a great distance , I can simply cut and paste in the lyrics from anywhere and I don’t need a PDF software to create the file I need , I could keep going on with the positives of the new system , PDF is an old way of doing things in a new computer world, but it does some things the new system can’t do which I don’t need .
What I was hoping for is a simple way to export my song lyrics having a choice, either without timecodes and just lyrics and chords, or no chords either , just lyrics , the reason is so i can quickly just save my lyrics only , so I can easily reuse them for other purposes, partly paste them in to another medley song , at the moment once you have created a full on song and contaminated it with timecodes and chords you are stuck with it you can’t really reuse the lyrics easily .
I suggest when you add data of any kind you should be able to temporarily clear it so you can export the lyrics file with only lyrics and chords, and if you temporarily clear the chords you should then be able to export the lyrics only, in other words whatever you program either data, chords or lyrics everything is always remembered by the song and to get rid of anything permanently you choose the selection and delete it, but you have an option to just deal with one particular item on its own , and whatever your choices are or the three options you simply disable the ones you don’t need to export the exact requirement.
This then allows us to be able to use the existing data to create new songs or perhaps other purposes without loosing the original setup in text editor of that song.
At the moment we are stuck with having to remove the chords one by one or having to save the full text file then remove the timecode than do another save without the timecode , than having to import the full text file that has all the data again as we did not want to loose or change anything we simply wanted the lyrics only or perhaps lyrics with chords only so we can reuse them in another song or many other reasons.
Example
You rearrange your song in a Daw and bring it back with the same name it gets replaced now all text and timecodes are wrong you should be able to simply cut, delete and pate your old text data to quickly suit the audio edit because you can leave text and chords turned on turn off the timecode do your edits then turn off the text and chords and leave the timecodes that are still ok but delete the ones that are wrong and then simply timestamp the area of song that needs to be redone.
You have not completely wasted all your previous work when it comes to time coding and chord entering.
Sorry to be so long again but I wanted you to fully understand what I was trying to achieve, which is a much faster work flow that does not limit us.

Now I understand. But I think that function would be better integrated into the lyrics editor. You can already choose to remove all timestamps. An additional option to remove all chords would make sense. I have added it to my todo list for version 4.

I think having this option for midi tags would also make sense.

Yes that’s exactly my feeling, everything you do is permanent, once you hide timecode, midi data or chords this information is not deleted it is only temporarily hidden so you can edit or export the specific data you need only, this way you got great power to copy and paste which data you need , to permanently get rid of data from the song you just select and delete , but to exclude this data you just hide it in a seperate buffer which returns it when needed.
This will please everyone as they could export whatever they want and they could edit whatever they want , this would greatly speed up the final creation of whatever the users needs are.

That data can't be hidden if you want to keep editing your document. Any edit might overwrite the hidden data.

Yes i know i can remove timestamps and thats what i have been doing to be able to copy and paste text and chords but its not ideal as i want to keep the timecode after i have done the edits so i have to redo all the timecodes from scratch , this is not a fast workflow, being able to hide things you dont want to edit would be a much faster workflow then bring it back when you want to edit it.
So instead of having delete all timecode function i would have it the other way where if you select anything and delete it it is gone forever, if you hide anything it is protected from deletion or export, that way you can choose what you see is what you can manipulate what you dont see is sitting in the background ready to be restored to use or to manipulate.
This gives the user very quick operation to complete any changes or manipulation of specific data without interfearing with all other things that need to remain in tact.This logic creates a flexible and fast workflow to suit everyones needs.
It also could be used to stop any transmision of the data if its hidden its not operational if you enable it it becomes functional, so a bit like a MUTE function for each song that can disable timecode, chords and midi send, this then also becomes useful as well so you can export whatever combination suits you , i might want lyrics with chords on my ipad but my music partner might want lyrics only, no problem just mute/disable timecode, midi, chords and export text only , paste the lyrics file in to your partners ipad and its done.This is just one example of many others .

Like I wrote, I can add a remove option for midi and chords. But removed is removed. You don't get it back.

peter I suppose it will be better than it is now , we can always save the finished file with all versions to notebook and copy and paste back what we need , it’s messy but doable.
