Air Drop can’t copy full back to iPhone12

My full ST3 back up is 39GB 😳 Air Drop can’t handle that transfer to my iPhone 12. But why isn’t it possible to save it to iCloud storage (which is more than big enough) and download it to my iPhone from there? Should it be this difficult?

Suzii i have 22gb full backup and can transfer this via air drop, it does take time and i like to have both devices near by and on a power supply, and leave the devices till the process is done and dont sneeze if near the devices 😂, thats using iphone 11 pro max 512gb and ipad pro 10.5 inch 250 gb with space to spare on both devices.using latest software on all.

Suzii why use icloud? Its even more unreliable, why not save it on the device and transfer to usb stick and transfer that way , its a lot faster and local and creates a portable backup.

Suzii I use iCloud for back up, never had any issues whatsoever. @Damir iCloud unreliable? Never had any issues with neither iCloud or Dropbox, even with large files. The iCloud sync function is a challenge though, I agree. Staying away from that.

Wow, that's a very very big music library you have. If Airdrop fails with this data size you will have to fall back to iTunes file transfer. That should work with any file size. Or like Damir mentioned use a USB stick.

Thanks Royandreno its good to know Icloud is working for you I also use it without problems to backup my many devices, i have a 200gb prescription, but having roughly 8 devices sharing the icloud for backup and syncing purposes that space is just ok, so if i then start throwing 20 to 40 gb files through it i dont feel comfourtable its the best, fasteset or most reliable way to simply transfer a large file from one device to another while they are side by side, i still rather use a usb stick or airdrop , i use to use dropbox a lot for those things but now that airdrop is so conveniant i just use that the most.
I am happy to hear icloud is reliable to you as its always good to have a workable alternative but my icloud is there purely as a backup for all my devices and i dont like overloading the space i have , icloud sync is something i will consider again wen it becomes bullet proof, as it will make life very easy for ST3 users, at the moment it gets its nickers in a knot a little bit so i am shying away from it untill its worked out to work for everyone.
I basically want full control of i cloud when i turn on that button in settings,
And these are the six options i want.
Do i want to fully sync to icloud,
Do i want to fully sync icloud to this device,
Do i want to merge sync to icloud,
Do i want to merge sync from icloud,
Do i want new changes only to update icloud and all devices currently using icloud and maintain all older data to remain the same on all devices only new changes from this moment to be updated.
Only then i would use iclous sync, because there are many different scenarios why people want to sync to iclod and by having all these options at the switch on point of icloud you get exactly what you need at the time , so there is no confusion of what does what and simply automatically destroys all your work.

Damir I understand, and agree with you for the most part. But maybe you misunderstood me. I use iCloud for storage and back up only (2T). I DO NOT use the iCloud SYNC function in ST3. I tried it when it was introduced, but when my iMac late 2014 model, (Big Sur OS 11.7) turned out to be too old, then I dropped it. The sync function crashed my ST3 on my iMac. Luckily I had made back ups. The iCloud itself is as reliable as all other cloud storage solutions, including Dropbox.
