  • Control ST3 on ipad from iphone

Hi all,

I'm looking a way to control my ipad and ST3 from iphone from distance. Is it something that I could do?
If not, any idea on how to achieve sending sign from ipad to a mixer with pa system remotely, without cables? I need a good audio signal transmission and Bluetooth is not an option.

Thx in advance!
Tavi

peter I undertand its not possible from the app point of view?
But there is no other way to control an iPad from distance?
    Maybe someone knows...

Tavilazar i agree , surely it can be done somehow, i can control my airconditioner from anywhere in the world and the pop up sprinklers not to mention see all my video cameras, surely someone can think of a way to control an iPad from an iPhone across the room without bluetooth method or midi pedals or remotes, cmon you geniuses start thinking!

Tavilazar you want to send a signal wirelessly which isn’t Bluetooth? Why not out of interest? I have quite a lot of wireless stuff on stage and have never had an issue.

router and a plug dongle on your mixer usb if you've got one .i think you can use a router to connect your phone to your ipad to i use one for connecting my 2 ipads together on stage

Lishy not an option! I'm explaining my target!
          so, there are 2 options:

          1. I want to send music/line in signal from the ipad to the mixing board wirelessly but the signal has to be stereo, good quality. Sometimes I sing and walk thru the crowd and I ant to take the ipad with me and control it. Now if I ant to do so I need some DJ to tell them play me this and ST3 doesn't make any use, only for the lyrics maybe..
2.I plug a cable into my ipad that goes into the mixer. The tablet stays with close to the mixer and I can control my ipad thru my iphone.

however, first option, will be more interesting, because I can have my ands on the ipad and ST3 also, full control...

I have tried some Boss WL-20L wireless system, but is not working, this is for guitars, line signal is very poor.
I have just ordered also xvive u3, lets see if this will work..

          somehow ill make it work..

thx a lot for all the answers, i thing is a subject that is interesting for all that are playing live with BT..

          Cheers from Spain!

Tavilazar is the u3 stereo? I’ve got the xvive p3 which is and works well just to let you know.

Tavilazar no that version isn’t. Isnt that for use between your mixer and PA? I thought you wanted a stereo solution between your iPad and mixer?

Lishy correct, you understand it right. But its the same think, I have an adapter and I plug it into ipad. The receiver goes into the mixer. I just took a look on the P3 that you told me. this is also looking good.
and also this option from the video of this guy.

The only difference in my case is that I want to constantly move in the room, or stage, so the signal should be damn good..

Tavilazar you have an adapter for XLR into your iPad?
Yes that would be a good option also. My P3 isn’t more than 10ft away from my iPad so can’t comment on its reliability for moving around I’m afraid.

Lishy Tavilazar you want to send a signal wirelessly which isn’t Bluetooth? Why not out of interest? I have quite a lot of wireless stuff on stage and have never had an issue.

All I want is my iPhone to act as a remote to IPad so my audio is out of iPad but I can stop start choose next song etc etc to be on iPhone in other words a mirror of the iPad but the actual sound is out from iPad.
Just like my aircon app the unit is at home and I have a wall touch screen but I can also control everything on the iPhone app .

Lishy I use a Gen9 that still has a 3,5jack, is more easier to find an adaptor

                        Tavilazar

Tavilazar I use the the 3.5 Jack as well on the last iPad Pro 10.5 inch , I will not get rid of it until I have to.
Thanks for the great video link it’s very informative, I will give it a try but it’s Bluetooth so it might work for me in small venues, what we need is something that works over the internet so we can operate the device from a much larger distance , but that would involve an ST3 remote app development which is in Peters hands there are apps out there that have these add ons like digital mixers app with an app add on for monitor mixing so it can be done but is it worth while? I don’t know , from my perspective yes I could do with it and I know other scenarios that people would really welcome it like solo floor shows where you are making an entrance and need to trigger a start from a distance, in my case sitting at a distant bar and muting the background music so an announcement can be made , these are just two very simple examples which I am sure there are hundreds more, but as they say if you never had it you won’t miss it, it’s not the attitude to have if you are developing new breakthrough software but unfortunately for us there are possible cost factors involved in development process so the end user will just have to wait till someone actually does this and it becomes the norm, Peter has broken the ice for performers , where it goes from here is anybody’s guess.

                        6 days later

howifeel Great stuff, it looks as though it can also operate on a network, just by a quick glance of your instructions i thought i saw network connection, will definitely give this a try.
Thanks very much for this information it can definitely help lots of users.
                        👍 cheers Damir
