peter Using the multitrack feature to rearrange your songs during the gig only works in a very limited way like for example by using the track mutes. But I don't plan on extending this in the future. If you really want to build up your songs in realtime there is a perfect app available for doing that. It is called Ableton.
Many times I have suggested things to be rearranged and eventually my way ends up the norm, this is another example of very narrow thinking when a small change could cater for all.
ABLETON SUCKS for what I need for on stage or I would have been using it when it first came out.
ST3 does exactly what I need and want , but it saddens me to see it is not perfected for numerous users that might use it in all different ways because of its layout or slight logic limitation.
As I said before loops are now perfect, the multitrack mutes are not, I never mentioned this earlier because I was not interested in multitracks the way it was before now with better output routing and extra tracks it has started to interest me, but as I always said when you drop down the mute buttons you cover your lyrics, this is a VERY BIG NO NO for me as I need my lyrics screen at all times, there are times I want to tempo change and I get the lyrics screen blocked , that really sucks.
From multitrack point of view if I had a multitrack song I can’t simply bring down the mutes without loosing my lyrics , I want to mute my solo track cause I feel the need to do my thing but what happens is my lyrics are blocked and I can’t remember which track is the solo without scrolling down the page, now that’s hardly practical , I’m stuttering on stage as I’m looking down desperately to find my solo track number so that I can then scroll back up to mute track 7 , now this is absolutely not user friendly , it would look like I don’t know what I’m doing and I have probably missed my solo opportunity because the whole process is awkward and not very well thought of.
I am using one example, there are many more examples I could write about , your MUTE tracks at the moment are very limited in their use , there are lots of other uses this can be used for by using your imagination, but your way of thinking stifles people’s imagination to be able to use ST3 in many different ways.
My use for this feature would be in a piano bar setting I could easily thin down a song and engage more tracks to fatten the song,
At weddings bride entrance I could solo the drum kit and loop the intro let the crowd get in to the beat as I cancel solo and let the full impact of the mix occur as the couple enter,
The uses are endless, but with your poor control as is, it gives you one feature to mute an instrument before the gig starts depending on your band setup for that night, whoopee ! Yes it’s important and works well, but gives nothing to other users that don’t really need that feature , yet nothing would change you could still do that and much more with a bit more wider minded thinking,
it’s already there you have MUTE , VOLUME, TRAK NAME, and yes a SOLO would be fantastic cause you could instantly mute all tracks but the one you need, Like a drum kit track, while everyone is clapping and singing to the beat , all you do is follow your loop and at end of loop cancel SOLO and presto you are off with the next loop with all instruments. That creates impact , only because the interface is geared up for it.
I could keep going on and on of examples to why it would be more useful on stage but you need to place yourself in other peoples shoes and what they might want, I totally understand your view as is now because I played in a band for at least 40 years but that view is very narrow.
ST3 has a much wider user potential than semi pro bands
