  • Midi commands getting sent twice when hosting to another pad.

Hi Peter

I have midi program changes embedded in to my lyrics. I send midi to an audio dmx sequencer on my laptop. This worked fine for me until I hosted a session with another musician recently. When I’m hosting a session and press play, st3 sends the midi prg change out twice now, which starts and stops the sequence instantly. Im not sure what’s happened but it was quite hard going at the gig last night with no lyric or set list in front of me. I’ve tried it on 2 pads running latest version of st3 and an old pad old version and a new pad, the problem remains the same. My computer receives the midi twice when a hosting session takes place.

Thanks in advance

Kev

Stage Traxx sends by default each command to each detected midi port. Check in Settings > Playback Settings > MIDI Output Ports which Ports the app uses and disable the ports that might cause duplicates.

Hi Peter

I will take a look but this is a new issue, it’s never happened before and I don’t think I’ve changed any of those settings. But I’ll look.

I use rtp to receive the midi data over Wi-Fi.

Thanks.

And how do you send rtp? Stage Traxx can not do that.

    Hi Peter

I have stagetrax on my iPad and touch osc, I often have them both running and flick between the 2 mid song, however sometimes I only use one of the two. I have a driver on my laptop called rtp midi, this software emulates the midi over Wi-Fi that all Mac software contains. When I embed midi in lyrics on stage Traxx and press play, rtp midi receives the data over Wi-Fi and my audio dmx midi sequencer on windows sees it.

I have resolved the issue, I think something has changed in the stage Traxx software. Normally with iPads hosting and joining sessions, I don’t need to change the midi port settings. So to stop stage Traxx sending the midi twice, I have to disable the “ session 1” midi out in the midi settings on the “join session iPad “ and this resolves the issue.

    Many thanks

    Here’s the software I’m using, https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html

    Hi Peter

I realise that I’ve made a mistake, all the network sessions I’ve done in the past were using the audio from the pad, not from the sequencer on my laptop. So nothings changed other than my level of dementia.

    Thanks
