I have a WIDI Bud Pro that I have connected to my iPad via a USB (C) hub. I connected a Bluetooth Midi device to the WIDI Bud Pro to control a keyboard synth application on my iPad. It works great. I am able to bypass the iOS Bluetooth and connect directly through the WIDI connection which is more reliable. I say all of that to provide some context to how I’m connected and like I said, it all works perfectly. When I select my MIDI input (Bluetooth) in ST3, it automatically looks for a connection through the iOS app. Is there a way to point to the established MIDI connection outside of the IOS Bluetooth settings?

Whoops! I was looking in the wrong place. I found the MIDI routing options under the Playback settings. All good!

Spoke too soon… I can’t get ST3 to send via the usb midi via WIDI Bud Pro. I see my midi port in the playback settings, but no Midi is being transmitted (have midi PCs embedded in lyrics) as confirmed by my Midi monitor app. I know the messages are programmed correctly because they transmit fine when I was using the BLE Bluetooth connection previously. Any suggestions on what areas I can check to get ST3 to transmit through the Widi Bud PRO?

Check in Settings > Playback Settings > MIDI Output Ports if the WIDI Bud is recognized and enabled as a MIDI output.

peter it is listed there and has a blue check mark. Does the virtual MIDI port need to be enabled?

No, the virtual midi port is only needed for sending midi to other apps on your iPad that do not provide a virtual midi input port.

Slightly unrelated, but, can I send MIDI PC commands via Bluetooth? So, pair a BT MIDI dongle then send MIDI commands to it?

Just to be clear, an embedded MIDI command in Lyrics of ST3 can be sent to a remote BT MIDI receiver device paired with the IPad and visible in ST3. Like this one?

I am looking to use this to send PC commands to a Behringer XR12 mixer which only has std MIDI 5 pin I/O and not MIDI over USB which I use for my POD Go. Besides, I want to use the USB to record.

You send MIDI to your Pod Go? I've never been able to get this to work. Could you tell me more about this?

It’s quite straight forward. You need to embed the midi commands in ST3. I also send Program changes to my Xair mixer (channel 1). The POD is in ch 5, here I set the POD to preset 18 and then snapshot 2 (C69.1).
