What the hell happened here? 😡
I used this iPad just last night and today I turn it on to find a massive collection of my songs missing from the ST3 folder, therefore not on the iPad (other than in a backup). Refreshing the song list does not reinstate the tracks, however when I try to play SOME of the missing tracks they do play and then no longer show as Missing.
Last night I did a normal clearing of the history and close down of the machine. I played some of these songs but not all.

A backup restore sorted things out but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

And upon further investigation… a backup restore works until I power down the iPad then the problem is back when I reboot the iPad. 🤷‍♂️
By the way, this is the same iPad that stops playing sometimes when I switch unconnected electricals on or off, e.g. wireless remotes or other lighting. I’m beginning to suspect it’s the iPad but it’s not old and I’ve only had it a year secondhand.
I have my suspicions… this is a sync issue, isn’t it. I wish I understood these things better so I would know either way.

This could only happen to you Jon 😂
I would try doing a full backup of the iPad, reset it (erase all content and settings) and set it up from the backup you made.
If it still glitches, call Apple. They’ll still give advice even out of guarantee period 😉

I second the question of jaytrax. Something like this could be caused by iCloud sync.

Please send me the logs from that device via Settings > Create support email.

AlanC76 This sort of thing is unusual for me, it all happens flawlessly, but I was lucky in that I was at home and not in front of an audience!

Thanks. I can confirm that the deletions have been triggered through iCloud. It looks like you deleted the files on one of your other devices.

peter Any files deleted on another device were not my doing. Many of the tracks are songs I regularly use. All I have tried to do is sync files. Is it possible that I closed down a device before a process was completed?

JonathanS I had the same experience. I turned off iCloud sync and use manual back up only. I don't trust something that is automated and beyond my control. It only takes an ios update or an outdated device, and you are out.

Did you maybe load a backup on another device? Because that will first delete all audio files in the cloud, and then reupload with the versions from the backup. If you close the app while still uploading, you would be missing most of the files in the Cloud.

Or you had one device where you deactivated Cloud sync, then reinstalled a backup and then activated Cloud sync again. That would also cause all files to be deleted and then reuploaded.
