  • Questions about what Midi can do

Hi - I have zero familiarity with MIDI but we're running our whole show on StageTraxx (thank you Peter, seriously, game changing) so I'm starting to question what we could use MIDI for. My apologies in advance for how silly this question might seem. Specifically, I'm wondering if somehow Midi could trigger video changes? More specifically, I'm wondering if we could have video clips that sync up with songs that are somehow triggered by MIDI time stamp at the start of the song? I'd appreciate any thoughts/direction anyone could provide on this.

You would need some type of video presentation software,
Ideally this will have the function to trigger “slides” or clips of video files via midi
This will be configured in the midi portion of the video presentation software

Stage Traxx can send the relevant midi triggers via the lyrics editor via midi time stamps

You would need to configure your midi in on your video presentation software to get its signal from Stage Traxx midi out

jaytrax Okay, I think this is making sense to me. Do you have any recommendations for specific video presentation software that would work? My next question is how do you tell the software to get its signal from StageTraxx? And does it send that signal out wirelessly? Like in the same way that StageTraxx acts as a "Host?"
      Thanks!

Lishy We run StageTraxx on an iPad as the host and it streams to other iOS and MacOS devices. I'm not sure how that device would fit into that equation.

I personally don’t use it but Pro Presenter is a very popular solution,
It’s not cheap but it does do everything your looking to do

If your using a Mac then you can use the built in IAC driver to send info from one app to another

If your using an iPad to Mac you may look at Bluetooth midi such as CME UHOST
