Error loading Song message!

Tried to import a midi (format 1) file, many times?
Keep receiving message "Error Loading Song"
States: Could not open file "midi name.mid".
Audio format not recognized. Please try to import
in a different format.
I tried format 0 .mid file got same message? I'm brand
new to program, seen some tutorials but can't find out
how to import midi's, Audio import is fine, thanks in
advance, William

Stage Traxx 3 plays audio files and does not have a midi file engine to playback these type of files directly

If your looking to use it to playback your midi files
You’ll first need to make them into an Audio File such as MP3

You can use higher quality file types but MP3 is widely used

I might add that I assume you have either an arranger keyboard, midi module or are using sample libraries to playback your midi files sounds

Thank you Jay for the reply. Yes, I have a Yamaha PSR s-950 that plays my midi files!
Is there a specific command I could assign to ST3 that would start my midi remotely at the same
time it started an audio file.

Could you be a little more detailed about what exactly you are looking to achieve ?

Are you looking for Stage Traxx to select a certain patch on your keyboard when a song is selected/starts ?

Trigger a midi file start/stop command from an internal floppy or usb ?

You need to search in the PSR manual which MIDI command you need to send and then we can help you how to send this command from Stage Traxx.

Thanks to you and Peter. I mostly play midi files, on my keyboard. The keyboard also
has the ability to play midi and audio tracks at the same time, but you have to
select audio start button and midi start button at the exact same moment.

I also have notes to generate vocal harmonies on track 16 of all my midi files! I was hoping to have
Stage Traxx select a certain patch on my keyboard to activate a midi and at the same time
activate audio in ST3 that way I match my vocal harmonies at the precise timing of the audio?

To summarize, I thought ST3 could display lyrics on my iPad, and trigger both Midi on keyboard
and audio in ST3 at precisely the same time!
I looked in my manual for the command but its confusing!

Willie hi Willie, I use to use the Yamaha Tyros 2 which is the big brother of your keyboard that had quite powerful playback features including midi, audio, lyrics display and 4 cue points to jump to while performing,
You are really flogging a dead horse like I was untill I found ST3 especially now with its looping capabilities, my suggestion to you is just bite the bullet and record all your backing tracks in high quality audio and just use ST3 as your backing player and the Yamaha as a keyboard , you will have the same if not better and easier control over your backing , much faster song creation process and a very simpler and enjoyable time on stage , I know initially it will take effort to do this but it’s well worth it in the long run this is your wisest option , I use my Yamaha as a helpful creation of backings but it’s not the heart of my performances anymore as it’s way to clumsy to use in live performances when using it as a backing device ST3 is designed for absolute ease on stage and it’s improving every day.
I had to write this to you as I was doing a very similar thing years ago and now can’t believe the effort I had to put in to get a result on stage that I can easily do now with ST3.

It can. You can either send a midi command at the playback time 00:00.00 which is always the start of playback if you did not trim the song. Or you can send a midi command when play is pressed. See here: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/midi/

As to what command you need to send to start playback on your PSR, that's for you to find out. I have absolutely no idea if playback on the PSR can be controlled via MIDI.

Peter, thank you, I have been trying to find out thru the internet about
the start command for my keyboard, no luck? But in ST3 I went in (Send Midi) and
on play selected (learn) touch my start button on my Yamaha and a code (CC64.0@1)
came up! I edited lyrics and put that code in the first line, saved hit done, started the play
Audio, Audio outputed to mixer fine, but it did not start my midi keyboard? Am I suppose to
put that code somewhere else other than Lyrics? Once again Thanks, Willie

When looking at my Yamaha PSR 950 keyboard in the midi section when I hit play
on ST3, light flickers on channel 1, I guess its telling me the keyboard is receiving the code?
But it won't start the midi?

Willie I’d imagine the flicker is indicating it’s receiving a message. I’d try tinkering with the message and try sending 64.1, 64.127 and 64 without the .0
Sometimes what comes after the dot will either start or stop the device.

Thanks again, yes I tried all the above, no luck. I called Yamaha support awaiting call back. Maybe

If your keyboard sends a CC message when you press a button, that does not necessarily mean that it will trigger the same command when it receives a CC message. I guess you will have to wait for an answer from Yamaha.

Just to make sure, you said you wrote: [midi@play:CC64.0]. There is space missing after : and before CC and you are missing the midi channel information. The correct way would be to write: [midi@play: CC64.0@1]
