Thanks for that Peter, I just thought perhaps it might be possible to operate with the whole lyrics screen gone as its a lot neater if lyrics aren't needed, i basically use lyrics all the time but in this case the performers all know their lyrics and require a neat playback surface.
I think they will just have to put up with the little blank black area on the side.

Thank you Lishy I was already aware of this but my question is why can’t we completely get rid of the lyrics screen because we don’t need that screen and we just want a plain simple song list to be present full screen just like the ability to have a full lyrics screen, as some people don’t need a lyrics window at all and would rather have a neat full screen playlist to work with.
I don’t see why not, but at the moment it does not seem possible as the software logic assumes all people want lyrics screen available at all times, which is not good logic.
I really don’t care myself as I do need lyrics but the Act I have coming from overseas don’t require lyrics, all they want is a simple yet powerful easy to use on stage player, well ST3 is it as far as I’m concerned, the dedicated antiquated player they normally use is not available in Adelaide, I can see them changing to ST3 after the gig.
Thanks for the response it also took me a while to realise the long press shifts the divide point it’s just a shame you can’t drag it to the end of both sides.

If you ask me it’s entirely logical that the software assumes that you want lyrics which is what all of us want and part of the reason we use ST in the first place.

As a software developer I take slight issue with this statement. Software can be ridiculously complex, and the more variations you add, the bigger chance you have to have one feature break something else. Especially when dealing with cross-platform UI. Simpler is FAR better, especially for a one-person-show like Peter.

I'm sure this request is feasible, but saying it's "not good logic" is too far.

I don’t disagree with you but there are a lot of people out there that could use ST3 as a very simple player, in which case why not get rid of the tiny bit of the lyrics screen that sits there unnecessarily, looking tacked on for no purpose, that’s all I’m saying don’t just assume things looking at it from one angle , start looking at things from different perspectives,
Personally I want the lyrics screen all the time , but I’m not the only one using ST3 in a particular way, there are people out there that could greatly benefit using ST3 just as a player nothing else and would appreciate not having a tiny bit of the lyrics screen showing unnecessarily.

The mix and loop buttons are on the bottom right side of the lyrics screen , they are very useful when playing songs, if you use the song or playlist modes with the main player window dropped down you dont get these controls, which i think is a shame because i would like to use that mode on iPhone especially as the loop window is dropped down which suits me better but then i dont get the other very useful functions, so you always seem to miss out on something to get a playback surface you actually want to use,
Simple fix would be, just enable us to fully close the lyrics screen just like the song select screen and all the issues dissapear.

Thank you for this thread. First of all I learned that I can drag the menu and increase it. That was really cool and useful. I am a pianist of a duo and don't need lyrics. I am handling the tracks only and use the app solely as a player. The real estate in the iphone screen is tight and a configurable margins of the boxes and location of the buttons alongside with the deletion of the screen reserved for lyrics would be for me and probably many others a good possibility.

SmoothMoodProject yes you are a perfect example of why not have the capability to hide the whole lyrics screen, I personally use the iPhone for my playback music and on that device I do not need any lyrics screen , but on my iPad I definitely always want my lyrics , having a choice would be really nice.

bens Spot on. ST3 has more than 100 options to customize it to your taste. Most of the issues I have to deal with at the moment are based on these many many options. So the way forward is not to add more options, but to reduce them in a way that makes most sense! Not everyone will be happy with this but the feature bloat that happened in the last years is not sustainable.

Thanks guys, Peter and I and a number of others have been conversing back and forth for years to make ST3 the best it can be, I personally think he is a genius 3 times over for giving us ST3 , I don’t think we need to beat around the bush when making comments the fact we make a comment means we care.
Saying that I totally agree with you as far as making things too complicated , but my suggestion here actually makes the software seem less bloated as unnecessary parts are hidden , I know this probably creates more work under the hood but the end result is a very simple player when needing one.
Good software in my mind is simple and fast yet it does a complicated job under the hood this is very hard to achieve but why not strive to be the absolute best if possible.
Great job so far Peter.
Let’s not get too touchy when commenting it just complicates things.

On Ipad i agree, but on iPhone which is probably the device of choice when playing background music or needing just a simple player and also wanting portrait mode as this gives you the best song selection option, firstly you cant get a nice simple song select screen because the lyrics screen is forced upon you, secondly if you did use the drop down of lyrics to get song selection capability now you don't get the mix and loop buttons , i use my ipad for performing because i need lyrics but i use my IPHONE to play background music and also if i need to DJ , i can get away with background music not having MIX and LOOP buttons but i really would like them when DJ ing to be able to X fade to another song, Portrait mode on iPhone is perfect for all this but by not being able to just have SONG SELECT mode instead of LYRICS is frustrating.
By having the capability of choosing all three modes would greatly improve the usability of ST3, you can either choose SONG SELECT , LYRICS , OR BOTH WITH THE DIVIDER ADJUSTMENT THE WAY IT IS NOW, this WOULD GREATLY IMPROVE WIDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.
Everyone could setup their screens to suit their exact need, they can run very simply or as complicated as they want at the moment the iPhone simple users have been greatly disadvantaged.
Hope this makes sense.
