Other infos in playlists other than the songs?

Hi Peter,
As I understand, a playlist is what I would use to create a set list for an upcoming gig. Is there an option to add extra infos or lines in the playlist to better specify the running order of the gig? Something like:
song 1
song 2
Birthday speech
song 3
song 4
Here we wait for the cake
song 5
Break, don’t forget X
etc?

Right now, of course the “birthday speech” could be created as a fake song, with the contents of the speech in the song lyrics… I was thinking more of a “gig builder” wit extended info… would that be an idea?

As Peter stated using Lyrics only song for this is perfect you can have templates already made and choose a different colour to make the the notice stand out from your regular songs, you can easily rearange where you place these prompts and if you need more indepth information just write it in the lyrics editor , if you have a joke or two in the prompt , or a speech, or just the names of the people you are talking about.
The uses are endless.
Its just up to your imagination.

Thanks to you both! I would then advertise it as a feature to make it explicit to other users. And maybe create another song category called “Show notes” (just a lyrics-only song in disguise) that defaults to a certain color. Then you can advertise a new feature to the app :-)

Yes i agree it would be great to specify all the uses that ST3 can do, but the posabilities of what it can do would make the instruction manual huge , as it can do so many things it would be impossible to name them all.
I use it as a music librarian.
I also use it as my music playback device in my car.
I also use it as my main puropse of performing on stage as a solo artist.
But i also used it as an autocue to do a speech for my sons wedding.
These are just a very few uses i need and ST3 delivers very nicely, i am sure others have used it in manu other configurations.
So the tool is there for you to play with and change to suit your purpose , thats what a well designed software should be able to do and thats to give you the user the freedom to choose how to run.

Chemabazan I don't see a benefit in adding a new type of entry when you can do everything with the lyrics only song entry.

We all want to add features and ideas to help make this app the best it can be, but sometimes less is more and this feature request is something that has a valid workaround, even the creator uses this “workaround”

In fact version 4 will develop in the exact opposite direction. There will be no more different song types. You just add a song and then you can add one or more audio files. Depending on the number of audio files it will be either lyrics only, a regular song or a multitrack song. And you can switch anytime by adding or removing audio files. That's the direction I want to move to. No more unnecessary choices and more flexibility.

Everything is clear, thank you. Don’t get me wrong, guys, I was only giving you the end users perspective. So right now it is an existing feature that is undocumented. I don’t think it would hurt to explain it in the manual: “you can also use lyrics-only” songs to add additional notes to your playlist”, usw.
Advertise the workaround, call it a “gig builder” and get an extra feature at no cost for the undecided buyer 😀. Plus the competitors are also doing it…
