Hi Peter, I have sent you a support email regarding ICloud, last night I decided to load my Full Backup of 6048 songs on my iPhone 11 Pro Max 512 gb, iCloud 200gb, which I have been using without change for months now, and I let iCloud do its thing, this morning I woke up to see that iCloud seems to be stuck on my 78 song, there’s no response or movement, here is also a photo of setting screen.
I will leave it for a few hours longer but it seems to be stuck for some reason.
Good luck with it cheers Damir

Hi again Peter, after I have written this report and came back to settings this is what I got

Now the issues I have with ICloud , I don’t know if the sync has completed , if it has left out my 78 songs to go or has it just had a minor spit the dummy and has fully updated the ICloud,
In settings I have no file count of my ICloud or my ST3 folder to quickly confirm this , and I don’t fully understand the consequences if I press CHECK FOR UPDATES AND SYNC NOW, the crucial information is not there to confirm the status of anything, so now I have to go back to song mode scroll down to hopefully 6048th song and see if they are all still there, then I have to open up one of my other devices that hopefully will sync in a few hours to see if I will have my 6048 songs by going to song mode scrolling down to the bottom of my 6048 songs to check to see if all have been loaded fro iCloud, I know this is a long read but that’s how I feel when I use ICloud, It does not give instant feedback to what is actually happening , and I don’t like not being in full control of my data at all times.
I will be firing up my iMac soon and see if I can get all 3 devices fully synced and stable.
Cheers oh I will send a second email now just incase it helps.

FURTHER UPDATE
My Ipad has exactly 38 song audio files missing even though in my song mode it says i have all 6048 songs present, so my iPhone sync that got stuck with 38 songs to go obviously didn't complete the full 6048 song file transfer, there is no easy fast method of knowing anything, i had to scroll through all 6048 songs and manually count all 38 songs to confirm this , there has to be an easier way.

As i fired up my iMac it didnt want to open ST3 BETA at all , i had to update my operating system and uninstall ST3 and reinstall it to get it working again , i managed to get ST3 Beta to open again, as the icloud was turned on i now for some reason have in settings message (Last Sync10may2023 at 05:46:57 (error: code2) , i have no idea whats going on with my mac i might need apple support to figure out why i am short of space now on this latest peace of shit i have purchased , i have never owned a more useless computer crap in my life .
So for now i think i need to cool off.
I have a gig coming up i need to calm down.
Perhaps have a swig of something strong.
Cheers

Damir It does not give instant feedback to what is actually happening , and I don’t like not being in full control of my data at all times.

I'm sorry for your experience and your challenges. Thank you for so eloquently describing your process and the shortcomings of using iCloud. Your precisely described why I will not be using that feature.

On the other hand, I created a full backup to my desktop - which iCloud sync'd across my devices. I don't have anywhere near as many songs as you do (yet), but I would observe that at least the zipped backup file is a self contained and so I know all of the contents are present.

Personally I am not using the iCloud feature,
To be honest my workflow is always on my MacBook Pro

    1.Download multitracks
2.Create an Ableton project for this song
    3.Make edits
    4.Export File
    5.Replay Gain file
    6.Add to Stage Traxx

When I’ve made edits I’ll export a FULL BACKUP
save to Desktop with todays date in the title

This full is then transferred to all devices via Airdrop

    Save to files on iPads/iPhone
Then Restore backup from Stage Traxx

My MacBook Pro is always the Master as this is the centre of my workflow
So Airdrop is quick enough for me to continue this workflow
At least until all iCloud issues seem to be smoothed out

I struggled to get the iCloud sync to work as well. I had to log out of iCloud and log back in on all my devices. I restored a backup on device 1 and turned on iCloud sync on all devices. Boom. This has worked perfectly for about a week now. Fingers crossed.

      John

jaytrax it’s exactly how I run my devices , my only problem is the Beta testing of iCloud is proving to be very difficult without knowing how iCloud actually works precisely.
So far I have not successfully synced all 3 devices , something always prevents perfect sync.
So I won’t be rushing to use ICloud till it’s rock solid and easy to use.

Just to let you know that iCloud syncing is working perfectly between my main iPad and iPhone and has done so since its introduction. I have about 6 gb of data.

First, I no longer support problems with the beta. The final version is released and already contains lots of changes to the last beta version. So I will no longer spend time looking at any problems with the beta.

The only problems I see in the log files is that iCloud is again throttling lot's of database operations. My hunch is that Apple has some internal limits. And Damirs dataset with more than 6000 songs exceeds these limits. But there is no documentation available about how many objects can be stored in the cloud. So no idea what amount of data is safe.

DickyDutch good to know , I have completely deleted all songs on all 3 devices and iCloud, loaded full backup 21gb to iPhone and synced to iCloud OK , I updated the iPad before turning ICloud on it synced for a while then gave me an ERROR 2 message , it’s done this a couple of times now , my IMac was a disaster It would not open ST3 , I had to update to latest software and clear some space on the hard drive cause I stupidly bought one with 500 gb solid state drive after having 3tb iMac what a mistake , no noticeable speed difference but lack of space is a big pain so beware new buyers get a large hard drive no matter what type.
I am hoping Peter will be able to figure out this ERROR 2 message.
Peter I have sent you a support email from my iPad as it’s just done it again.
          Good luck

          Damir
Can I ask why you are running a beta ?
This ideally should be deleted and removed from your devices

I thought I had an extensive set list covering 480 songs

          6000 seems a bit excessive
I think I read somewhere else you also have DJ or other music on it

I would use a separate app or folder for these types of files and only use STAGE TRAXX for its intended use

Hi Jytrax, thanks for the reply, just to fill you in, ive been involved with ST in since its birth and have had a lot to do with its development to this day, i never use Beta on stage and i never update from old to new versions till they have been proven for a while, i just came back from holidays and assumed Beta was still being tested so i have fallen behind at whats going on.
Yes you have an extensive set list mine is 360 and slowly growing that i use to perform with but i also act as a DJ oon occasions in between my acts and i also use ST3 as my background music device , being in Australia i have a diverse audiance English, Croatian, Italian, Greek, and the list goes on so thats why i have a song library over 6000 songs.
I have been involved with ST development since ST started and with a few others we have got it this far , it was primarily designed for on stage performers that needed backing and Lyrics, but it has proven itself to be a lot more than that , bands, solo artist, people needing a great librarian to store their music, i work in television/ radio and i would have no problem using ST3 on air for major productions as it has a very powerful fast way it works, i have used very expensive hardware that cant compete with ST3 on air , i could use it as an auto cue as well, and many more uses , so ST3 is not just a solo artist on stage software, it can be used as a very serious tool in many situations , it just needs to be discovered.
Peter has broken the ice when it comes to flexible use of an audio player, things will change with other large manufacturers of audio devices from now on you will see in a few years time hardware with ST3 capabilities will be available.
Thanks for your response we all benefit from it, cheers Damir

              Damir
              That’s awesome,
I’ve noticed your name pop up quite a lot and partially guessed you were a long time user.

I agree STAGE TRAXX has become a very powerful app and can suit both simple set ups and advanced, it allowed me to migrate from Ableton live in and use it exclusively.

Similarly to you, I often Dj after events but I use my MacBook Pro and dedicated software,
Obviously that’s where your track count is come from.

              Well thanks for the background
              Nice to meet you 👍
