  • Multitrack Songs Playing Files From The Wrong Song

Noob here.
I've done this three times now, and it has happened every time. I assumed the first time I must have chosen the wrong file but I have not.
Here's what's happening; I have an iPad connected to iTunes on Windows and a local hard drive with multiple multitrack songs. All confirmed to have the correct files (these all worked a couple of weeks ago in the MultiTracker app).
I drag three folders over to FileSharing in iTunes into the ST3 folder, alongside the Multitrack-Files folder. So in the iTunes Fileshare view, there are four folders - Song1, Song2, Song3, and Multitrack-Files.
In the ST3 app I Create Multitrack Song. Name it SONG1 and configure the click, cues, etc to the files from the Song1 folder, all is good.
I create a second Multitrack song, name it SONG2 and configure the click, cues, etc from the files in the Song2 folder, which I confirmed each and every time.
Now, when I play SONG2, I hear the click and cues from SONG1, every time. SONG1 plays fine. What in the world is going on?

<EDIT> Additional details. I can delete SONG1 from the list, and SONG2 still plays with the wrong click and cues. If I click File to replace them, it opens up at the same folder it was in before for SONG2, and I choose click and cues, and then it plays SONG2 correctly (it's now the only song in the list). I add SONG3 and it seems to play fine...when I go back and listen to SONG2, now it's bass track is from SONG3.

I’m not sure if I’m reading correctly, but I had a similar issue when I first created multitrack songs.
I found that each song and instrument must have a unique name.
Because StageTraxx takes the original file and moves it into its own Multitrack folder. It does not access the original folder once the song is created.
If I only called the original mp3 file BASS, Stagetraxx moved that file into the Multitrack folder and overwrote the file that was there.

poehmsen Thank you. That's got to be it, because every click file is just named CLICK.
I will confirm that is the issue and then start a feature request thread. It seems like ST3 is primarily a "single file player" and maybe the multitrack aspect of it is newer, or maybe not as well developed.

@peter Hi Peter, I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I'd like to file it as a potential bug or at least a feature request. The filenames of one multitrack song shouldn't be dependent or unique to the filenames of another multitrack song since they were imported in separate folders. - and THANK YOU for such a great app!

I don't see it as a bug. The current file layout uses a single folder for all multitrack files. So you need to make sure your files don't overwrite each other. Please take a look at the filename requirements described in the manual: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/multitrack/

peter Understood, and it's definitely spelled out in the user guide - thank you.
I would like to see it as a feature request for a paid upgrade. I've used three other apps for multitracks and none of them have that requirement. While it's likely not an issue when rendering/exporting your own stems from a DAW, all of the purchased multitracks I have from LoopCommunity, Guidetracks, and Multitracks.com do not have the song name as part of the filename of each instrument. I bet I could use a file naming utility like filebot to help facilitate those tasks on my end, I will look into that. Thanks again.

I agree that it was a poor design decision and I will definitely change it in version 4. In version 3 I will stick to this decision due to compatibility reasons.
