Hi, All

I have ST3 set as the MIDI clock running on my iPad connected to the Beat Buddy MIDI breakout cable via an iConnect mio MIDI cable. I have the Beat Buddy set as the slave and is assigned to Channel 1. I also have a Headrush Gigboard set to Channel 3 connected to the MIDI out of the BB breakout cable. I was hoping that when I started a song that the Beat Buddy would pick up the tempo configured in the lyrics. Is that not how it works? Ultimately, what I’d like to do is have a click and/or a bass and/or a rhythm guitar track playing that is perfectly synced up to the Beat Buddy. And of course, sync up my time-delay effects on my Gigboard. I normally have the BB set as the MIDI clock and the Gigboard syncs up perfectly. I use OnSong to simply set the tempo (and now ST3). But if I have a track running in ST3, that’s a whole other ball game. Would it be better to make ST3 the slave and keep the BB as the clock?

CFMD28 what is the purpose of using BB ? If it’s just to play your beat/drums why not just record 12 drum beats in to ST3 and use loops to bounce around them, sync your lyrics to the loops and it’s done, if you need bass do the same thing , you will find it simpler to setup and perform so you can then engage your audience better ,
Perhaps I am missing something, everybody has their way of running but sometimes it pays to change the method that’s if it’s for the better outcome.
If I had a band playing without a drummer and I only needed drums ST3 would be perfect especially if it had another few loops, I would have each individual song with its own drums the different loops would have the correct drum beats to suit the lyrics which would be timecoded so I could bounce around to any part of a song with correct beat and fills , if I went out of sync with the drums it would not matter greatly as long as I kept timing I could always get back without too much trouble as there are no other instruments involved.
So by not having another tack on device would save me a lot of work and headaches on stage.
Perhaps i don’t fully understand your needs but would love to hear them so I can understand what advantages the BB gives you.
    Cheers Damir

Can the Beat Buddy run as a midi clock slave? If yes, make sure playback is running in Stage Traxx as the clock signal is only sent while playback is running.

ST3 can not only act as a master.

But I have indeed the same question as Damir? Why would you want to run a playback in Stage Traxx in parallel to the Beat Buddy? I don't think it will be possible to get them synced up.

Both Damir and you are making good points. I think the answer is to move away from the Beat Buddy. It’s just my comfort zone. But I need some time to transition from OnSong/Beat Buddy to ST3/loops and backing tracks.
Yes, to answer your question, the BeatBuddy can be a slave.

Damir Thank you. You are making good suggestions. I need to re-evaluate why I am doing this.

CFMD28 Thank you. You are making good suggestions. I need to re-evaluate why I am doing this.

It took me years of different setups and lots of expensive equipment to end up with ST3 that does a better job on stage then all my previous setups that cost thousands of dollars, but you are fortunate you have options, before i didn't have options all i had was expensive systems that still couldn't deliver what i have now.
System 1 Yamaxa a DX7 with 8 TX7 modules laptop to midi drive them cost $15,000 35 years ago.
System 2 Yamaha Tyros 2 keyboard midi driven with four loop points that was a revolution i could jump to 4 points in a song WOW! $6000 thank you very much 10 years ago.
System 3 ST3 cost me nothing as a beta tester thank you Peter, that does everything and more cost few peanuts and simple to setup and run LIFE IS FINALLY SWEET IN MY RETIREMENT YEARS , new performers have got it bloody cheap and easy 😂 I'm just loving it on stage i still have my TYros 2 collecting dust .
Oh i forgot i had other systems but i rather not talk about them they were total lemons, it hurts to think about the money i wasted, but i came out a winner at the end , so don't be scared to experiment just don't waste your valuable time on complicated CRAP.
        Good luck keep on rockin!

Damir I’ve spent a few bucks of my own experimenting. Yes, ST3 is a blessing, indeed. We veterans really appreciate what technology can do today.
