  • Connection of bluetooth pedal on startup and power cycle

I'm sure this has come up before, but I can't find it through search...

Currently I have to go into settings > Bluetooth MIDI Devices Setup, then connect my pedal (iRig Blueboard) each and every time I start up ST3. Also if I turn off the pedal during (extended) breaks to conserve the battery, I have to go through this process to reconnect the pedal.

Is there a way to have this pedal connect automatically? Does it work differently with Airturn pedals?

MasterAnt that is a pain, but on my AirTurn stop 6 and digi3 I haven’t found this issue, it was an issue originally but now I just fire up the iPad turn on the remotes the open ST3 and I’m ready to go, sometimes it does not work because I might turn things on backwards so all I do then is reopen ST3 and I’ve got control again.
I assume your pedal is automatically connected to your device when turned on, this is your first check , if so then ST3 should automatically know that as you turn it on so it should auto connect, perhaps check your settings on your device to see if it auto shuts down to conserve battery and turn that off perhaps you can increase the turn off time if the system allows it.
I am just throwing ideas around in case it might trigger a different way of thought.
Perhaps contact the device manufacturer, they might have a firmware update to fix your problem.
    Good luck

Airturn works better in this regard. Bluetooth LE devices always need to reconnect. I also see this issue in other apps like Bandhelper and Forscore. So I don't think anyone has found a way to automate this.

Damir The pedal doesn't connect or even show up in the iOS bluetooth settings until after it connects within ST3 manually. It then shows up just by name, and iOS has no control over it like iOS has for a regular BT device.

I stomped on my start/stop switch accidentally one too many times, so maybe I will eventually buy an Airturn pedal with those metal switches. Also, I am finding 4-buttons to be too few now with the looping.

MasterAnt Hi Ant, if you do get a new pedal my suggestion is make sure it gives you easy access to bateries so you can replace them without screw drivers as my Airturn Stomp 6 is great but gives me the shits because i have to undoo 6 small screws to get to the battery, i refuze to use rechargeable as they dont last, and a power supply is another tack on and messy to have around me.
I believe the new airturn bt500s-6 has improved greatly using bluetooth 4 and 5 and 200 hr battery life on one charge and much more like 2 variable imuts for volume and scrolling with speed control.
So good luck with your hunt.

Damir thanks for the info. Yes, the primary reason I went for the blueboard was the easy access to replacing regular batteries. I've never liked using built-in rechargeable batteries that can't quickly be switched out when dry. My sony mp3 player with a li-ion battery started burning during a gig!! 🔥

MasterAnt the new Airturn claims 200 hr on one charge now if thats only half true its still a pretty good time so maby it will be a good choice and the fact it has a true volume peddal capability and page scroll with the two extra pedal imputs then still gives you six more buttons makes it a very attractive unit i might even consider the upgrage just for that.

Sounds to me you’re a hot performer 😂

              2 years later

It's been a few years. Has there been any progress on the OP's question regarding the i-Rig Blue Board? It is a small but frustrating inconvenience to have to go into settings and manually reconnect each time start up.

              Thanks,
              Brian

              No, unfortunately not.
