Move selection up/down

I finally got my bt pedal, an iRig Blueboard!

I'm having a minor issue with having my up/down floor buttons assigned to Move Selection Up/Down. When I first tried this using a bt-keyboard, holding down the switch would continually move the selection presumably because a keyboard sends repeat keystrokes.

Unfortunately the midi pedal doesn't.

I was really hoping that I could use pedals to move around the playlist to find the next song while I would be performing the current song.

This works except that the Blueboard doesn't send repeat midi "keystrokes" like keyboard does.

I therefore have to tap the pedal for each and every song to scroll through the list one by one.

Is there a setting in the program to repeat a function while a pedal is pressed to solve this issue??

MasterAnt this issue is with your pedal, you need to set it up to repeatedly trigger, that’s if it is able to do this my AirTurn pedals have this as an option within its software, see if this is the same for your Bluetooth pedal.
It really is not something ST3 has to do it’s the pedals job to repeat switch.

The Blueboard can not send repeated MIDI events and Stage Traxx only reacts to midi events. It does not keep a state (like pedal button is still pressed). So for your requirements Airturn pedals might be better suited as they can send repeated key presses and you can configure the time interval to your liking.

I'm running Blueboard in MIDI over Bluetooth mode 1. The manual states, "A “Note ON” message is sent when the button is pressed, and a “Note OFF” message is sent when the foot-switch is released."

If I test this in Logic Pro, Switch A triggers note C3 at velocity 100. The note continues to play until the note off message is received. Logic Pro is continuing to play the sound; there is no repeated MIDI command sent by the pedal. Why then can ST3 not similarly continue to scroll until the note off message is received?

MasterAnt because it needs a command every time it jumps to a new song the Logic example is not the same function.
A note on command stays on because logic is looping that sound until you give it a note off command, ST3 jumps once to another song and it won’t jump to another song till it gets another jump command , if your pedal does not support repeated command it won’t progress to other songs.

Yes that is how it works now but that's not how intelligent software works, and as you have said many times before, ST3 is better than that. If a MIDI message can trigger complex playback of a track with a single MIDI-ON message, then triggering automatic scroll really isn't complicated by comparison. From a programmatic point of view, this is entirely possible.

I have thought about that feature and decided against it because it has a couple of negative implications or open questions:

How to handle control change commands? Same as note on/off or different?
What about hanging notes? What if your pedal disconnects while pressed down? How to abort this in the app? Can you even abort it in the app if the current command opens / closes the playerview without any chance to trigger anything on the screen?
You need additional settings: at least you need to define in which intervals the commands should be fired. But is this a global setting, or per command?
Involuntary triggers are more likely. Suppose you have play assigned to a pedal and just stay a whim too long on the pedal. Playback would be stopped again.

All these things sum up. Anyone who wants to use such a functionality can already do it with Airturn pedals. So I don't see an immediate need to build something quite complicated that would work around these issues.

I could add a feature request to my list but as long as there are not more votes for it, it will be low priority for me. And the summer release version 3.6 is already feature frozen. So earliest possible release would be 3.7 which is early 2023.
