ITs back again, i found two songs with same NAME/ARTIST in a playlist pointing to the same SONG , how and why is a bit fuzzy, but nevertheless yes i have this in my face and i am in a delemour , if i delete the extra song out of my playlist it will delete the actual source song in SONG renderring my other song useless. And yes when i did this i lost both songs and the one i kept was useless as it did not have the source song anymore.
Why is this happening?
Why cant i just delete a song in the playlist database and keep the actual source song , so if i have multiples of the same song in playlist i can manipulate these songs as required adjust them accordingly rename them and still be able to delete them without loosing the SOURCE song?
REMOVING DUPLICATE SONGS problem.
Rename the audio file in the Stage Traxx folder, then delete the duplicate song, then rename the file back to the original name. Problem solved.
peter yes thats a work around but why is it happening and how can it be fixed is the guestion, i have had this happen every so often and i dont know why, i am very careful with my song creations and my file system , yet i am every so often presented with this problem, why is this possible?
Because i run duplicate devices for safety i was able to copy and transfer this song file back to my master ipad and load my time synced lyrics with chords from my NOTES database where i keep all my lyrics/chords with timestamps.
But if i didnt have a reliable backup plan i would have lost my song and the only way to recover the song would be to restore my full backup assuming this song was a part of the last full backup, this is not a great way to run.
I should be able to remove duplicate songs using the same song file and not loose the actual file itself.
Itunes has a similar system except it asks you do you just want to remove the song from your pllaylist or do you also want to remove the song from your itunes library itself, perhaps we need the same option to simplify deletion of duplicates using the same song file.

Stage Traxx tries very hard to prevent you from pointing two songs to the same file. It can only happen if you delete a file from the audio folder and then import it again as a new file. Don't do that.
Oh and regarding the option to choose not to delete files with a song: this is already implemented for version 3.6. So in 3.6 it will be easier to get rid of duplicates.
Deleting a file in the Files app will move it to the trash. You can restore it from there. Deleting a song in ST3 will delete the file instantly.
