OK, when you created the backup, you gave it a name. Just copy the file with that name to the new iPad. So open the Folder with Stage Traxx icon on it and search for the backup file. This is the file you need to copy. Nothing else.

Thats what I can't figure out how to do? I added the Apple Files app and all it sees is a folder named Numbers... not related.

OK. I was able to turn on Air Drop to the new IPAD. Then from old IPAD did Air Drop and selected name of new IPAD. It says it shared it. Launched ST3 on new Ipad and went to Settings Backup Restore. , Locations on my IPAD and I see file with time stamp matching what was just air dropped. Touched it, and again... opened the folder displaying all the songs...
Dont see any menu choice or see it actually do anything?

All the songs in the My IPad/ST3 folder will appear greyed out.
The Backup file is a folder with a ST3 logo ,backup file name and size.
This is all you need.

Sorry not a folder it’s a file.Its the only one not greyed out.

I got that. BUT when I touch it, instead of it asking me if I want to restore, it just OPENS the "folder" displaying all the files greyed out.???? I took screen shots but I guess you cannot upload pics to this forum?? Look here:

Are you sure you checked for a file named ST3.
It could be anywhere among your 400 greyed out songs.
Scroll through them all.
Ive just completed a restore and it worked ok.
Sorry edit function still available.

Yes. File named ST3.

Note: I Can Restore on the same ipad where the backup was made. But when the file is copied to another ipad it seem to not understand what it is supposed to do during restore when you click it?

Dunno what I was doing wrong. I was FINALLY able to Air Drop ST3 backup file from old IPAD to new one and then Restored it. BUT.... all the songs were missing???

I just de-installed ST3. Installed again. Went to Songs and Imported from my iTunes Playlists as already synched from my PC. Then Renamed the Playlists to match what was on the old IPAD Air.

At least now I have them looking the same.

JDSMUSIC Can you maybe send me a screenshot of the file that displayed your songs instead of restoring the backup?

And if you say the songs where missing, do you mean you could see them with a red background or there where no songs visible?

I don't know if Airdrop can transfer files with more than 2GByte. Maybe the transfer was damaged. If you have 500 Songs, the backup file will round about 2.5GByte large.

I think maybe the files being displayed was a result of my action using File Sharing in Itunes. I did scroll down in the list of files and actually saw a ST3 backup file. After I removed and reinstalled ST3, Air Dropped a new backup from old iPad, clcking on the Restore, then the backup file, I did get the popup to restore and it proceeded without incident.

All the songs and playlists were restored but the songs view and playlist views showed all them in RED with "Missing" tag.

What was the file size of the backup? Did it have a .stb or .st3 file suffix?

I selected on the old iPad and moved to Dropbox. Opening Dropbox on my PC the file shows 6,023KB

On the new iPad, I did a new backup from manually recreating my songs/playlists from yesterday. Then I hit Restore, selected Dropbox and the file. I ran WAY to quickly and completed without error. I selected songs and again RED background and missing tag. I then restored todays backup and all is as it should be.

This is not a version 3 backup. 6MB ist just enough size to contain your database for 500 songs. But not any songs. Like I said, a version 3 backup with 500 songs would be in the range of 2-4GByte.

Just checked the old iPad storage, the file shows to be 7.62GB. Maybe I will try Google Drive could be a file size issue with Dropbox?

Uploaded to Google Drive... details of file there says it is a filetype ZIP and 5MB

Filetype ZIP is correct as ST uses this as a container. But the size is too low. Now the mystery remains: why does the file have 7.6 GB on your device and only 5MB in Google Drive?

In Google Drive App on iPad, navigated to folder ST3-Backups. Opened it shows July15.st3. If you click it it shows "Unsupported file type"... if you click the 3 dots, then Details and Activity... there it shows filetype ZIP and size 5MB

Just went into ST3 and tried Restore, it shows the file as 6.2MB but it is Greyed out... cannot select.

Well, if the size in the Drive app is different from the size you see in the Files app, it looks like a problem with Google Drive to me.
