  • Stage Traxx beta version 3.0.0

New beta build 3617

CAUTION: This version contains database structure changes. Please create a backup in Stage Traxx before updating in case the update does not run smoothly.

Changes

  • Replaced some icons with standard compliant icons from Apple
  • Changed tap behaviour in playlist overview. A tap on the playlist will always open the playlist details view. To load the playlist into the queue, tap on the play icon.
  • Fixed crash when adding timecode to end of lyrics containing diacritic characters.
  • Fixed database error in song list and add to playlist views if songs start with diacritic characters.
  • Fixed possible crash when loading metadata from audio files.
  • Fixed rewind stop mode to honour the start time setting

Is everyone ok with how History is perpetual? I would like History to be session specific. In other words, when I open ST3 before I start a gig, I'd rather have History to be cleared out. That way when I add my playlist, I wouldn't have to answer the question about loading songs already played. Also, I'll know if during a gig, I had played any particular song when selected from the Songs list. Yes, I know I can go into History and clear it, but it's an extra step. Sometimes I can get lazy. Sorry.

EddieH But how would Stage Traxx know that it is opened before a session? What if you switch to background during a session and iOS terminates the app? Do you really want the history to be cleared when you restart it?

I think manually clearing the history before or after a session is more fail proof than any automatic approach.

Like the new single tap to VIEW playlist. Easier than having to hit the ">".

    Thanks!

I’m using iOS 13 (dev beta 3, same as public beta 1)

‘’both ST2 and ST3 have the same issue. Whe. Trying to edit playlists, clicking on the blue i button does nothing.

Obviously I realise that this is a developmental build but I thought I’d give you a heads up anyways.

peter I don’t understand your first question. As for your second question, if IOS restarts the app, it’s a don’t care for me since the queue will still be current.
I guess I’m not understanding the purpose of the History list other than letting me know if a song has been played. It’s helpful but if it wasn’t included, I probably wouldn’t miss it.

In ST3 when in Playlist or song mode on the right hand side of the screen the blue circle icon
takes you to the main song edit page for lyrics etc.To the right of the blue circle is >.I have pressed on this accidently and ST3 has crashed several times.I then have to delete and reinstall.
It doesn’t seem to happen when I have just a few songs loaded but happens when my playlist of 246 songs is.
        Cheers Barry

          Hi Peter,

A bug that was there in the previous version and is still there in 3617:

          1. Open player window
          2. Go to playlists and open the playlist
          3. Put the app in the background then open it again

The upper banner where you have the Playlist name and the link to go back to all playlists is placed lower than it should.

Also, when the app is in the background, the client loses the connection (I use two iPad Air 1's). I also had an instance when the Session was even disabled on the main app after I returned from the background.

Treyjaxuk Thanks. This sound like an iOS problem. I will start looking at iOS 13 once a release candidate is out. Before that too much can change.

EddieH I don’t understand your first question. As for your second question, if IOS restarts the app, it’s a don’t care for me since the queue will still be current.

Yes, but if this happens during a gig, you loose the info what you have played on the gig so far.

I don't think this is related to the icon. I can see a crashlog when rendering the waveform view. I guess this might be you. I suspect it is related to a certain song. Could you try to find out which song causes the crash and send it to me? I am a bit clueless what is happening there and how to get rid of it.

musicadi Yes I know with the navigation bar. The bar somehow wants to leave room for the status bar. I needed to add some hacks to make work around this and the hack obviously does not work when the app gets active again, but I am clueless how to make it work. We will have to live with that for now.

Regarding the connection loss: When exactly does this happen? For me the session keeps on running as long as iOS does not terminate the app. I try to prevent it by keeping the audio engine running if clients are connected but I guess iOS might terminate the app anyway if you switch to other apps that need lots of cpu or memory. But this outside of my hands. If iOS feels like terminating the app even if the audio engine is running, there is nothing I can do to prevent it. In that case you have to connect again to the host.

Oh and if you restart the app you will always need to enable hosting again. This is a security based decision. Now that the host does not need to confirm a client connection, I want the host to be aware that a session is hosted. If the app would automatically start hosting, you would forget about that and in case you start Stage Traxx in an open network you would have an open network socket which is definitely a security issue.

            Peter,
            Found the songs.
You were right it is waveform related.
I have some tracks that have no audio in them ,just a blank file a few bytes long which I use for lyrics only.
I suppose you could say it’s my version of a ST2 placeholder.
As ST3 can’t find any audio to display waveform it crashes.
            All good now.
            Cheers Barry

              Last post should have said.
”Found the songs causing the crash.
BTW when ST3 crashed it wiped the ST3 folder from my IPad with all the converted songs plus the Backup.Any ideas.

              Cheers Barry

Can someone tell me WHAT a placeholder is in ST3?
I’ve heard it referred to many times but have no idea what they are.

Just a quick heads up. Colours don’t work properly in ipodOS 13. Especially on the queue screen if no tracks selected. Plus selected tracks are pale colours not normal ones.

This is the same if iPodOS is selected to either dark or light colour scheme.

All else appears to work ok on 13

                  ipod 6 2018 with iPodOS 13.0 beta

Bazz02 You were right it is waveform related.

Could you send me one these tracks anyway? Waveform rendering can handle no waveform data. So this crash should not happen and no matter what I try, I can't generate test data that causes a crash.

Bazz02 BTW when ST3 crashed it wiped the ST3 folder from my IPad with all the converted songs plus the Backup

Only iOS can remove this folder. I guess what you saw is the caching of the Files app. Sometimes it takes a very long time for changes or folders to appear in the Files app.

coopdawg Can someone tell me WHAT a placeholder is in ST3?

This is a song without an attached audio file. You can use to to display lyrics for songs you don't have a playback.

Thanks, but as I mentioned above I will not start looking at iOS13 until a release candidate is out. It is a moving target at the moment and a lot of glitches will be fixed in the coming 2 months. It makes no sense trying to find workaround for them at this point.

Checked again with song Belfast Lyrics which I emailed to you.ST3 crashed.
The only way I can get it up and running is to delete ST3 which deletes all data and Re-install.

                    Cheers Barry

Bazz02 Thanks, I got it and finally fixed it 🙂. The fix will be available in the next beta.

Would it be possible in 3.1 to have a switch in the Network Session for SLAVE device to display or not display the lyrics AND show the top 5 or 10 songs in the queue? Or maybe one or the other.... queue/lyrics?

Used ST3 again this weekend without incident. Loving It!
