Playlist import bug

Wow, am I lucky I did this at home! I would have seen my @s$ at the gig later.

@peter please check Playlist File save / restore in v3.5.6.

I prepared my playlists on my home iPad Pro, then saved them to OneDrive.

I could not restore them to my gig iPad.

I was able to Airdrop them from one iPad to another. That worked! (At my gig I wouldn't have had the other iPad to do the Airdrop. Phew, for doing this at home!)

I am NOT able to save a playlist to either OneDrive or iCloud and then try to load that file into v3.5.6 on the other iPad. I get this error:

(The files are .stpl files at around 329 bytes for 13 or so songs.)

MasterAnt This is the reason I make sure all my devices are identical at all times by using the full backup restore system, It’s a bit of a pain but every 4 to 5 new songs added i update to all devices, this gives me no reason to use any cloud based services away from home and gives me greater confidence in the software playback device so I can concentrate more on the PA and the client.
Had my first large gig for a while last night, I decided to run with two devices as a solo singer guitarist, MC, DJ, I had iPad as my playback device and my iPhone as the DJ playback, using 1 playlist on each device with all appropriate songs required in each playlist, the analog stereo of both in to Yamaha analog audio desk , it worked like clockwork smooth as silk and the best part was the 3 girl Brazilian dancers that performed in stunning costumes, I am definitely going to Brazil my next holiday.
ST3 made it a night to remember.

This happens to all cloud files that are not yet downloaded to your device. The Files app just notifies ST3 to open the file without downloading it first. ST3 then tries that and fails because it is a cloud file.

Workaround: Download the file first and then open it. Long tap in Files app on the file to open context menu an then select "Download". After that the import will work.

This problem only affects playlist files because they are the only type of files that are opened in place (directly in the cloud). All other files are first copied to Stage Traxx which does download them if they are not yet downloaded.

I will implement a workaround in version 3.6 to also copy the playlist files into ST3 and then remove this copy after importing.

This would be a good idea for future cases. It was enough to throw me off under pressure, and I'm in professional IT support! iTunes is the king of the unknown error xxxxxxxxxx. ST3 is better than that! 😀

This would be ideal, even for future versions where you might have iCloud syncing. There'd still be a need to bring in an offline saved playlist. I don't necessarily used iOS Files to send the undownloaded playlist to ST3. OneDrive's option is make available offline, I suppose.
