Filter in PLAYLIST? Why?

Can someone explain to why we have a filter option in Playlists first window where only playlists are presented.
I just dont get it i thought filters were associated with songs, so why have a flter option there?
Wouldnt it be more handy having DATE CREATED option instead and an alphabetical name order filter.
If i cant setup a playlist filter cryteria why would i want a filter search option when i cant find anything related to the playlists, it seems like either an unfinished add on or a total mistake,
If i choose any song filters all my playlists dissapear as expected, where do i enter the filter cryteria to work on my playlists?
If i choose an existing filter option designed for songs in the playlist filter list all my playlists dissapear and thats understandable because there arent any filter options that apply to the playlist window, so i am baffled by this option.

Then when you enter a playlist there is no filter option, now this is where i was expecting it to be, just like SONG mode, that word CONSISTANCY has been forgotten again.
Am i sounding like a grumpy old man ? 😤 thats because i probably am 😂🤪

I would also expect the playlist filter selection to have no connection to song filter option, otherwise there will be a total nightmare if you have to look after two filter options settings to not cause issues while performing.

Damir An example of how I use playlist tags and history. If I want to remember the songs played at a particular gig, before that gig I clear all of the history. After the gig (probably the next morning) I save the history as a playlist and give it a memorable name(e.g At the pub Easter Sunday). I already have playlist tag called ARCHIVE that I add to this playlist. I then use the playlist filter to hide (or not) all my Archived playlists.

peter but if I didn’t have lots of them in the first place I would not need this filter, that’s my point , instead of creating a system that works for you, you have a system that you have to work on to achieve something that could have been avoided in the first place if implemented correctly.

peter how can you do that?
A song has a filer option.
A playlist has no filter option to create a filter for itself.
So if I use song filters and choose one of them as an option all my playlists disappear and then I can’t choose any playlists until I clear the filter.
This seems pointless and unusable.
What am I doing wrong?
If I can’t work it how is a newbie gonna do it.

Damir I'm playing around with this now for the first time to see if I can understand it.

I got thrown off a little as you said with playlists disappearing. What I realised, and I may be wrong and this may be so obvious to some users that your posts may be confusing, is that the Tag icon on the toolbar when you go into a playlist sets the tag for the playlist, not the song. There seems to be one list of tag names, but the secret is in where you put the tick on the tag.

If you create a tag anywhere called "Past Gig" and you tick it in the song editor, you can't filter by "Past Gig" in Playlists. But if you tick it using the Tag Icon on the toolbar inside a playlist, it works only for Playlists. Probably working as intended. Perhaps the more consistent way to do this would to have an (i) next to the playlist name as songs do...

It's not where you create it that's all that important, it's where you tick it, and that's where I've pointed to in the screenshot.

MasterAnt thanks for the information, i have gone and created a TEST filter in the spot you suggested, now i have gone back to playlist where my filter option is i highlighted TEST to see only TEST results and all my playlists dissapeared.
So i still dont get it , why do i have a playlist filter and where do i setup my playlist filtering so it obays this filter?
In SONG mode i choose a song and enter filter crieteria for that song to be easily found, where is this same procedure to filter playlists.
The filter is phisically located in the Main playlist yet to tick a filter option it is in individual playlists, but the filter itself does not find anything it always goes blank, how is it possible to come up with such a confusing system, yet there are so many simpler ways of doing this.
I think this area needs a step by step explanation to firstly what it does for you then how it actually does it.
I cant figure it out even with everyones help, perhaps i am loosing my mind.
I can use song filtering, but i just dont understand the playlist logic of filtering.

OK I JUST WORKED IT OUT,
ALL FILTERING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN BOTH PLAYLIST AND SONG MODE BUT THE TWO FILTER OPTIONS WORK SEPERATELY IN THE TWO AREAS.
TO CREATE A FILTER IN PLAYLIST YOU SELECT A PLAYLIST THEN SELECT THE TAG BUTTON, CREATE A FILER YOU NEED THEN TICK IT, THIS TICK THEN DETERMINES THAT THE FILTER SELECTION IN THE PLAYLIST ONLY BRINGS UP THAT PARTICULAR PLAYLIST, ALELLUYEEEEEAAAA, I HAVE IT! DONE.
THANKS ANT FOR MAKING ME PERSEVERE WITH FINDING OUT THE LOGIC BEHIND IT.
I will give it a propper go and see how i can use this to advantage.

MasterAnt WELL! Thanks Again Ant, i appreciate your help.
I still believe this method is not ideal it assumes a lot of how a person uses history.
Personally i dont like it.
I was thinking that HISTORY option was going to give us something more useful and simple.
I personally find my A4 sheet with my set lists song list for a gig much more easier and useful for later referance, the reason for this is it retains all my set lists songs it also shows the played songs because i put a line through all done songs, after a few years of playing all of these files are in date order, i can pull them out and have a great referance of what songs i chose and what songs i played this then allows me to easily rearrange a song order or add new songs.
Once i have it done i create it in ST3.
If ST3 had such a simple way of doing this i would use it, i was expecting History to have in history page a date list with all my performances, which contained my whole gig playlist and the done songs to be coloured, i then could save this history in to a folder which would have all my setlist songs the songs not played to be in black and songs played in purple, this then would give me a good idea of what went on and allow me to recreate a new gig perhaps in the same venue one year later.
So the History page would store all my old gigs and then at my choosing i can use this history to create new playlists. I could also save history to other folders in ipad, email history, use history in live performance, delete history individually or all delete.
All history to be in History page just like all playlists in playlists page and songs in SONG page, non of this intermingling to create confusion.

MasterAnt thanks Ant I remember mentioning to Peter there needs to be some sort of tick box there so people get a prompt they have a tick option, I see he hasn’t improved it and it just bit me in the ass again I forgot, and since I didn’t have anything ticked it’s just a blank line with no clue to what it has to offer.
These sort of things are becoming more and more common in software this new generation all think we went to mind reading classes and are expected to just know shit.

Damir happy to assist. It wasn't all that intuitive to me either, and I only found the tick because I knew it had to be there somewhere. Like you, the first thing I did was add the keyword thinking that was enough, then wondered why my playlists were disappearing. I'm okay with it all now that I know how it works, but then I haven't really started using keywords and filtering seriously.

MasterAnt same here I’m so happy with the basics of the program I’m not fussed with the nitty gritty but am glad to give honest opinion so perhaps it gets to be the best it can for musicians , I’ve got a big gig coming up on this Friday a wedding so I’m a bit nervous cause I haven’t performed for a while due to Covid restrictions, but I’m soo ready and confident ST3 won’t let me down , we shall see.
