Taylorburns Hi there, Is it possible to set ST3 so that when a song ends, rather than auto-selecting the next song, it just goes back to the start of that song? I’d find this useful for practice when I’m playing the same song over and over again. Steve.
Damir Taylorburns I think what you mean is a basic loop of a now playing song which most players have as standard, and is great for practicing. Yes the ST3 will do that but only once and in SONG mode. As you load ST3 you will be in song mode if you now play a song you will be able to next select this song and switchon auto play this will repeat the now playing song just like a loop, but unfortunately once it does this it will not allow you to do this again, if you want to get the loop function to work again go to a playlis select another song then go to songmode you will be able to loop that song again but once only , then it does not allow you to do it again. The now playing song repeat is not a function that has been provided as yet it only works once in certain circumstances.
peter You mean when playback ends it should rewind that song without starting playback again? What exactly is the use case for this?
MasterAnt Makes sense to repeat a song for rehearsing. You can create a new playlist and add the song, then click done, then add the same song again, then click done, and do that a few times. At least you'll get a few repetitions of the one song.
Damir MasterAnt yeh good workaround if desperately needing multiple replays for rehersal. Not so goog if you just want to repeat the song while performing, it just means you let the song end step up on foot control and hit play, this works but its not ideal. If your next song is not immediately under your now playing song then it gets really tricky, you might as well just not use foot pedal just do it the old fashion way go to ipad screen and fiddle.
Taylorburns Peter - yes, I mean when playback ends it should rewind that song without starting playback again. The use case is practice! You could even call it 'Practice Mode'.
peter So that would actually save you just a single tap to select that song again, correct? Version 3.6 will have a looping option but that would keep playback running. Not stop at the end of the song.
Damir peter what he is asking for is exactly what i proposed ages ago and that is make the now playing song be selectable as a next song and then let us decide if we put in in auto play it will loop if we dont select auto loop it will select it and wait for a command. This is ST3 normal operation, but with the now song playing beeing treated the same as all other songs, allowing to select the now playing song as the next with auto play enabled would permanently loop that song until you either stoped it or selected another song to be the next song, this is absolute freedom of operation. This gives us a lot more ways of using ST3, at the moment it is dictating to how we have to run. Just like RUSSIA is dictating to UKRAINE. By coincidence I was suggesting that song turns half yellow half blue to indicate it is the next song , this only happens when now song is next.😁 And you’ll be supporting a good cause🤪
Taylorburns It saves you a couple of taps because you have to close the new song that has been loaded and find the old one in the playlist and tap on it. Not a huge deal but seems like it would be a pretty straightforward option to add.
Damir Taylorburns you are correct it’s not a big deal if your next song is nearby , but if your next song is 222 songs away it’s a long way back to search to repeat a song. I agree it shouldn’t be a big deal to do specialty when the software allows you to do this but once only as you start in SONG. After that it reverts back to limited logic.
peter Damir you are correct it’s not a big deal if your next song is nearby , but if your next song is 222 songs away it’s a long way back to search to repeat a song. The use case is practice. If you practice, you will not manually select a new song as you already know that you want to repeat the current song and in that case it is one single tap to select the last song after the current song has finished.
Damir peter not if you use queue mode where the song disappears in your history and then you have to get to history to retrieve it, that’s one reason the other is if you don’t touch your screen and use remotes only you really get unnecessary stress to do something that should be simple and that’s step to the now playing song and choose it to be next just like any other song and you are done , now you have to wait to end of song and then step back to the now playing song to repeat that song it’s not immediate and it can’t be preset when convenient to make the transition smooth like to all other songs. Yes if you are practicing at home you have the luxury of time and finger control, not so when on stage.
