Hi Peter, this might be all related to previous observation but il focus just on this behaviour.
4 photos starting with 1 song is playing you press button down photo 2 as expected photo 3 it just jumps up one line and no changes occur this is distracting and unnecessary , i would expect this to just go to now playing song , photo 4 next jumps under the now playing song, this whole operation feels jearky and wrong, the now playing song should allways stay in middle and move only once the next song below or above it moves further away from it.
As i mentioned before now playing song should be also next selectable and play again like any other next song.
The visual jerking when stepping through searching for next song is whats really bothersome.

My thinking,
NOW PLAYING is allways in middle and does not move unless song is playing and NEXT is searching, NEXT is always either below or above the now playing song , it is also able to be on the NOW PLAYING song, if it is above or below the now playing song it should remain in this position if you move further away from the now playing song, it should not change its position, the song list behind it should just scroll through but its position should not shift, unless you get to the now playing song, then you should be able to choose it and move to the opposite side of the playing song where it remains if you move away from the now playing song.
This will appear a very smooth operation and not much jerking around as it is now.
Sorry to keep going on with this area, but i just noticed someting else i will point out that seems iconsistant to normal logical operation.
When playing a song and using up/down switches also assuming foot pedals would behave the same,
Playing a song using finger to scroll song list and selecting a next song then pressing up/down buttons to make change to selected next song ignores the finger selection next song and just jumps to the next song below the now playing song.
This seems wrong to me as it should just continue the next song search where it was finger selected in the first place.
