Willyboy52music Hi Willy, i already responded to Peter on your problem but after reading your needs again i might be able to help, i also like to run the way you do i dont use set lists as such i have all my 300 songs in one playlist at all gigs and once i choose that playlist i stay in it the whole night, its basically like beeing in SONG mode but with certain advantages, in playlist you can easily rearange your songs in an order you want is the main one, you cant do that in SONG mode, having colour in your song list is really useful once you get use to it and once you are playing one song you can freely select the next song you want, but if thats not what you want you simply let the now song playing end it jumps to the next song under it then if you dont want that song as someone in the audiance has just yelled out a reguest simply scroll to that request and double tap it to start, the yellow NEXT feature just gives you freedom to choose next if you want the show to quickly flow or by simply ignoring it lets you do what you want next. If you didnt have NEXT yellow feature it would simply be a basic player like MUSIC OR OLD ITUNES so perhaps you are use to those players and its hard to adjust, but once you do you will not look back the advantages of the ST3 are so much better on stage than the old ways. You will also find other advantages of using a playlist instead of song mode here is another one, you can easily duplicate your last performance playlist then rename the new playlist to the gigs name rearange all 100 songs in possible order that suits and then still be able to jump around that order to fine tune the night on the run, its freedom.
In other words you can only use one playlist for all your gigs or easily create a new playlist and fine tune it with all the 100 songs in all the playlists but perhaps more fine tuned just for a particular gig, i normally do this for every new gig, i duplicate my last gig with all my 300 songs i name my new gigs playlist then i reset my songs to Name song Alphabetical order so i can find them easily in the list then i arrange my first 20 to 40 songs depending on the gigs length, if its a long gig i prep the first 40 songs that i know will work after the 40 songs the rest remain in alphabetical order, so i can easily find them if needed.
So now i have a basic plan to perform with easy way of jumping to any song that i have in my whole repertuare, this gives me a lot of power on stage, if requests fly in from audiance while im performing i can easily find the request while performing and select NEXT once thats done i can relax and get on with performing knowing my next song is going to be ready, the audiance gets the impression i am live with a band but its ST3 that is doing all my work for me, this is what this software is designed for its not just a simple player.
Ok lets say you really run simply and dont want to prep anything, you load all your 100 songs to a playlist, select alpabetical order so you can go to any song easily, and use that playlist for all your gigs, the NEXT feature is there if you have other members using ST3 in sync to see on their screen as to what you intend to play next so even a last second change they still see what is going to happen next, this is absolutely fantastic as you dont have to verbaly or visually show your audiance your next song intention yet your other band members are all geared up to go with the next song as they have visual confirmation as to whats going down.
So why would you not want this. If youre on your own then just let the next song below be selected then go to any song you want.
When loading a brand new song in SONG mode simply go to its song details select the one and only playlist and presto you are ready to use it in the playlist.
You could perhaps create only 6 template playlists that contain all your songs and tailor each one for specific gigs Weddings playlist, Dances playlist etc, this will require zero prep in future alowing you to select which playlist suits the gig on the night.
I hope these ideas and explanations have helped you in some way.
Cheers Damir
