FEEDBACK
I normally use airturn foot pedal and instant song start and this works great, lately i have been using a remote set up on my accoustic guitar so i dont have to be always in a particular spot on stage to start a song and this works well except when i hit start my strumming hand is in the wrong position for immediate start i always miss the beginning to fix this i have placed a 1 second delay to start songs, this works fantasctic, you hit the start and have one second to move to a playing position with your hand , this really works well thanks Peter i never used this before as i always thought if i stopped mid way in the song for an audiance interlude i would have this one second lag when starting, but NO you actually have it from then on you have instant start, this is brilliant had i known this earlier i would have used this feature sooner, so now i can delay start and stop start as i please, Love this as it works on stage.
2 REQUESTS
Please allow us to change the two volume up down switches next to stop to place more useful features, i personally want one large audio MUTE switch so i can hit this easily to get rid of the backing while it is still playing so i can easily unmute it on screen on the run, this gives me a lot more flexability in performances especially for those really small gigs where i dont use any remotes at all.
The other useful feature would be to scroll to the NEXT song up and down in the song list while song is playing and also include the already played songs to be selected as i might want to repeat an allready played song this was available in ST2, i know i have requested this before but i thought id mention it again, and i would have all other useful features available on these buttons, but i would really love a nice ONE BUTTON OF AUDIO MUTE in that spot as an option.I just had a LIGHT BULB MOMENT, what about a feature in the audio mute function for a pre selectable mute level adjustment, so if some users want a foot controlable instant audio dip for those special moments you just hit a button and you have an instant volume dip and another hit restores the volume to normal, this trick is commonly used by live bands that closely interact with their audience. 100% , setting gives you a full on mute 50% gives you a haved volume dip etc.

TEXT EDITOR FEEDBACK and request
Generally speaking it works but its no where near to what it should be.I know i have asked for this but no harm in reminding you.
I use the editor consistantly for all my songs as i use the timecode synced lyrics and chords on all my songs,Yes i end up with a great professional result, but i have to work like a dog to achieve this, i dont think many users would persevere to achieve my results for a simple reason its just to blody time consuming,as i mentioned before syncing up the chords above the lyrics clashes with timecode information this needs desperate change, and when you have chords above a lyrics line when you are time coding the song it does not skip to the next apropriate line so you consistantly have to manually stop and change to correct line rewind and start again for every line of lyrics in the song, this is unnecesarily exausting, this is what good software is all about it should make it seamless.
I know we discussed this before but i really feel this is one of the more important issues to fix than anything else as it is a feature most users would use yet they shy away from it as it is to clumsy and hard to sucessfuly use.

FUTURE FEATURE REQUEST REMINDER before i retire 😆
Please consider a simple and very accurate loop feature that allows us to setup and easily control 4 to 6 loop points.
As i suggested before, use the wave display area to display these loop points and allow us to manually or by remote select these points as the song is playing. This would COMPLETE this software.

Have a Merry Xmas and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! 😄

I strongly disagree to the statement “the two mostly unnecessary volume up down switches next to stop “ I alway use these buttons to control playlist volume - it saves having to rely on using the audio mixer which may not always be close enough to where I’m performing. I’d be very disappointed if they were to be taken away!

DickyDutch Not to be taken away, But to be able to change to other useful features like audio mute as this is only available on foot pedal, the volume controls are available on the large fader they are available on remotes and on the actual device while some very useful features are not available on the main surface of ST3 at all, so if you don't use foot pedals you cant use these features, the most logical place for these options are the two volume buttons which have multiple options on the same surface.I also use them sometimes as they are easy to use when using the iPad close up but id rather have an auto mute switch there as i need that more often than the volume switches and am happy to have to tweak the volumes on the slider as most of my tracks are well balanced i do not need to tweak that often. This would cater for all users no matter which way they operate.

      Volume Buttons

The volume buttons will be configurable in version 3.5. I have only planned on adding actions that have an increment / decrement feature like tempo or pitch. But I could also do mute. But as these are always 2 buttons what would be a good action to use on the second button when the first is mute?

3.5 is progressing nicely and beta testing will start in (maybe mid?) January.

      Loop Points

This will be the focus of version 3.6 coming summer.

      Text Editor

When adding timecode the cursor is moved to the next line that has any text. Regardless whether the text are chords or lyrics. If you want chords and lyrics to light up simultaneous just hit the timecode button twice. This will insert nearly the same timecode in the chord and lyrics line.

Apart of that the best recommendation for editing lyrics is to use a bluetooth keyboard connected to the iPad or if you have a Mac edit on the Mac. It is so much easier to edit lyrics on a real keyboard there is simply no comparison to the onscreen keyboard.

peter RE mute second button, as i mentioned i think it would be very handy to have control of audio DIP feature that is pre set in settings, so you choose the ammount of instant DIP on the second button, so as you perform and want to involve the audience to sing along, you have at an instant two choices at your fingertips a total mute or a presettable DIP, first hit on the buttons gives you either a full mute on the left button or a partial dip on the second button , a second hit on the same button restores to normal level but a second hit on the oposite button goes to its respective objective, in other words if i hit a dip button it should dip then i hit a full mute button it should full mute then if i hit the full mute again it should restore normal volume but if i hit the dip button instead it should divert to a preset dip setting and then if i hit the dip button again it should restore normal volume stting.

As default setting i would have the dip set to 50% half the volume and then let individuals do a final tweak in settings to their exact requirement, this setting then gets remembered untill changed.

This logic then gives us lots of options on stage i can dip the sound and if i really want to get the crowd involved i can fully mute and return to full volume back through dip giving us control to do things live bands do quite regularly giving our show a more professional feel without stress or a sound engineer that might actually be checking out the chicks and missing cues.

        peter RE Text editor.
Peter i have no problem actually typing or editing in the editor.
There a two simple things i have a problem with that i feel waste a lot of time and create confusion
        ONE
Timecode upsets the edit view where chords above lyrics go out of sync yet they are correct when replayed, this should not happen.
I should be able to get a true visual of what i am entering or editing.
I cant tell you how to simply fix it as i dont know how to program things but i can tell you what i know does not work efficiently , using a seperate keyboard is not a fix, i am very happy with the software keyboard, the problem is the timecode on the screen shifts everything out of sync, now i would be happy if you can just hide the time code so i can enter the chords above the lyrics in sync, this at least lets me finish entering chords with ease then i can display the timecodes and continue entering them.
Another way could be if timecode is entered anywhere all the text area shifts to the right by the size of timecode space, alowing us to work in sync from there on.

        TWO
When entering time code and using chords above, i should not have to manually skip a line to enter my next timecode, this is very time consuming it really upsets the work flow.
The software knows what is a chord line and what is a text line, why cant it recognise the fact you have already placed a timecode for a particular text/chord line and skip to the next line automatically.
        Logic should be,
Chord lines have priority and will allow a timecode be placed in to the line if next line is text then it ignores it and it jumps to the next line, if the next line is text line it just uses that line and jumps to next line if the line after that is a chords line then it jumps to that line but it ignores the next line if it is text, but if its another chords line then it jumps to that line.

This logic then makes it easy to enter timecode all the way through a whole song without stopping if it contains chords or not.

Your suggestion of a double tap as a work around.
That might work but could also be a disaster work around, reason, a lot of the times when entering very accurate timecode in a fast moving song or a song that lyrics are really hard to sync, as you make mistakes and want to redo the step you have to clumsily delete the bad timecode, this is a real pain not to mention if you had to remove two timecodes in two separate lines, you have just created more unnecessary work for yourself .
The timecode entering is frustrating enough even if everything was setup to work smoothly we dont need a more time consuming work around we need a fix so things just flow naturally and if there is a mistake to be easily fixable.

So not only do i feel the auto skipping of lines should be implemented to streamline boring timecode entry, i feel that a method or removing quickly of individual badly entered timecode is needed to speed up the process.
Suggestion a long press on timecode area gives you a delete option.
Or perhaps an undo/redo function that allows you to step through to a spot where you can quickly do a retake this is a very standard feature in most top software .

Synced Lyrics/Chords in ST3 is one of the main features that make this software uneak, entering this data simply and efficiently is very important otherwise people wont use it,
It then just makes this software another music player.
So what i am saying more effort needs to be put in to these uneak features to make them shine.
APPLE MUSIC is a perfect example of useless not well thought of software it has lyrics that really feel like a last minute tack on, no real purpose, designed for i dont know who.
Yes i do know, people with no idea.

Damir Good day Damir, could you please detail your remote setup that you are using with your acoustic guitar. Maybe some pictures as well? Thanks, Marty.

          Showtime Happy new year Marty!
My Digit 3 setup, i found it to be the easiest remote to setup out of all remotes i ever used,
Once you pair it with your device simply open up ST3 which automatically will find it go to Airturn setup in Settings turn the Airturn support button on it should auto connect to the Digi 3 from then on you dont need to do anything again as soon as you turn your ipad on if your bluetooth is on and you have turned on the Digi3 it will automatically connect to the ST3 software , you just open the ST3 and you are ready to go.
Now to explain how to setup your buttons to your requirements this is what i have done for my gigs but i also have an air turn STOMP 6 foot pedal so you might want a different setup but i will explain my setup incase it suits you.
To change the buttons its as simple as go to Settings, remote control, assign actions, hit the action you require like Stop/Start now it will ask you to hit your Digi 3 button you want this action on, and thats it your done, now do this for all your buttons cause you have 6 on the Digi3 , you cant assign to power button or mode button.
          I have
Stop/start on ok button in middle
Move selection up on the arrow up button
Move selection down on the arrow down button
Increase song tempo on the arrow right button
Decrease song tempo on the arrow left button
Initiate Crossfade on the bottom keyboard button

i have my airturn Stomp 6 setup like this.

Move selection up on button 1
Move selection down on button 2
          Decrease Volume on button 3
          Increase Volume on button 4
Toggle Mute Audio on button 5
          Start/Stop on button 6

There is a reason i did this.
I placed the Stop/Start on the 6th switch because the foot pedal is placed more to my left side as i have my guital lexicon pedal in the middle as i need to be always hitting buttons on that for sound changes and voice harmonies, so the Stop/Start switch is the nearest button to me as this is the one used mainly and i placed the other functions in order of importance as i allways require a change in next song i placed that on the opposite switches 1 and 2 because i dont want to accidentally hit the STOP button, so there is a logic to my madness.
I have some functions on both remotes , they are the most important buttons like STOP/START And next song selection buttons as they are always needed .

I use to have instant start on all my songs and this is great if using foot pedal, but not so good when using DIGIT 3 mounted on the guitar as you need time to bring your hand to a playing position after hitting play, this seems trivial but it looks bad from an audiance perspective to eliminate the unprofessional look i have placed a one second start delay on all my songs when using Digi 3.
Go to settings select playback settings and select the delay time that suits you, i have a 1 second delay , if you have a too long delay that also looks unprofessional as you can end up with pregnant pauses, so you need to tweak a bit to find your sweet spot to suit most of your songs.

Now i strongly suggest when editing your backing tracks keep them all the same so then you can use this delay feature sucessfully otherwise you will need to tweak in ST3 which is ok but if you ever loose this data you will have to redo it all again, i preffer not to use the ST3 trims unless absolutely necessary, i have all my tracks identical in level and trim making before i load ST3 this way all the ST3 functions become a very small fine tune and things that are global will work with all my songs the same without surprises.
Now i hope this has helped, if i missed anything or havent explained clearly just let me know.
          Cheers Damir

Damir Happy New Year to you as well Damir, thank you very much!

I appreciate you taking the time to provide a detailed description and suggestions on how you have set up your remote rig. I am a fairly new convert to Stage Traxx 3, in the past 15 or so years I have used MusicReader, OnSong and SongBook ChordPro, but none of them worked as well for me as ST3 seems to. AirTurn Bluetooth pedals have been my choice for a number of years and I have used a number of different ones, currently using 4-button and a 2-button AirTurn BT200-S pedals. I am in the process of bringing my Tracks and Charts into ST3, which is proving to be quite a task as I have to adjust the length of each line on the chart to a length that fits the width of my iPhone.

Again, thank you for your reply, it is very helpful.

            Best regards,
            Marty.

Showtime Marty, maybe you should hold off with converting your songs. I think I found a way to have chords placed correctly in wrapped lines. This will be a feature in version 3.5. Beta testing will start in one or two weeks.

                7 days later

peter That would sure save me a lot of time, thank you! Let me know when (and how) I can try it out. I have been working with the latest Beta, and although I don’t use some of the additional features, I have not run into any issues. I have to say that the “Device Size Modifer” works great. I create my charts to fit my iPhone 13 Pro Max, then when I create a full backup, and restore on my iPad Mini or iPad Pro 12.9” the charts are easily adjusted to take advantage of the additional screen real estate. Thanks for that feature!

The latest beta (version 3.5) does already include this fix. Just try to zoom into a song so that the lines start to break up. Chord placing should still be ok.
