DickyDutch I’m having a problem with creating full backups. I want to create a backup in beta to transfer to latest live version. At the end of the process I get a blank with screen - then an error message which flashes up so fast I can’t read it! - then white screen remains. I have plenty of space on my iPad. Any clues?
peter Hm, never seen this. Where are you saving the backup to? Is it the Stage Traxx 3 Beta folder? A workaround might be to just transfer the database only backup. After that copy the audio files of missing songs manually if there are any.
DickyDutch It doesn’t get to the stage where I’m able to choose where to save file. I’ll probably have to do as you suggest. By the way it’s also happening when I try to take a backup in the live version!
peter That's strange. I don't see this issue on my installations and I did also not get any report from other users about such a problem. Did you maybe add any files with unusual characters in the filename? Are you sure there is anough space available? Maybe the failed backups occupy to space. That would explain that the backups also fail on the non beta version.
DickyDutch I’ve just tried yet again to generate a full back up file from the beta version but without success- the process just gets stuck! I’ve checked the space on my iPad and have more than enough available. So I took your advice a generated a data only backup (which worked no problem) and restored it to the live ST version. Then the problems began! I found that multitrack songs do not show in red if any of their files are missing - something that you might like to rectify in a future update. The only way I could identify them was to try playing them to get an error message. In all I found five problem multitrack songs. I then had to go into edit mode of each song (dismissing all the error messsges) and compile the list of missing audio files (and settings) - 30 files in all. I then thought I could import these missing files using iTunes file sharing, but no I couldn’t find a way a copying the files directly to the Multitrack folder! So I’ve had to recreated these 5 songs again in the live version. In hindsight what I should have done was to copy all the files/folders from Beta to my pc using iTunes, zipped them up and changed the file extension to become a backup. Lucky things are now all sorted and strangely I’ve now been able to create a full backup in the live version!! So all good. Ps do you think there would be any benefit in added an additional back up feature just for multitrack song files in a future release?
peter You are right. Missing multitrack files should be visible in the list. Regarding the multitrack files. What should work is to use the Files app. Just select all files in the multitrack folder of the beta and copy them to the multitrack folder in the regular version. That would be just a single copy operation for all files.
