Yes you are correct Peter but i did run differently on ST2, i use to try and keep on using same playlist gig to gig because it was not very conveniant to manouver between folders, in ST3 this is so much easier so i do use plylists a lot more and i am building up a playlist for every gig, i use to leave all DONE songs marked as i would then go back to the one playlist i used and use its history to create my new gig then i would clear all DONE songs to play the new gig so i did not notice its shortfalls, but with ST3 it is so easy to bounce between playlists and SONG mode i am now using a new playlist for every new gig and i also use old playlists to create new gigs, this is very conveniant, what i find frustrating a lot more with DONE songs highlight the way i run now is every playlist gets contaminated by a new gig, meaning all history of playlists is ruined, this DONE great feature is not fully exploited to maximize its true helpfulness to the performer, if every playlist had its own memory of DONE/Clear songs this would really help the artist to create new performances from existing old playlists.A clear ALL DONE function as is, should only clear the songs DONE in SONG mode, playlists should not be affected, as they are an individual performance history which should remain with each individual playlist, this then is a true help and representation of the past performances and a big time saver to create new gigs and examine print/save export to others.
At the moment DONE feature is only useful for the now performing gig and nothing else.
I have never been fully happy with the DONE feature although i love it, so perhaps i am asking if there is a chance to get it working in a slightly different way to maximize its usefullness.
Here is how i would like DONE to work when using playlists to perform gigs.
Every playlist to keep its individual DONE history and the ability to clear its done songs, this then allows you to reuse old playlists see what songs you performed last time you used that playlist it gives you option to ignore those songs and use the songs that have not been played yet in that playlist, it also shows songs that you used and allows you to get rid of songs you did not use so you can add new perhaps more suitable songs to create even better performances next time to suit that venue, it allows you to to use this history to benefit future performances.
The ability to print/save, export all the playlist or choose DONE songs only, this then allows you to export to customers or band members or just a paper record for youself.
When a song is DONE in playlist it should also show its DONE in SONG but it should not show its DONE in any other playlist as this is not true you did not play that song in any other playlists, this gives you two seperate histories the one in SONG mode is a history of all played songs in all playlists, this should be able to be cleared but in SONG mode only it should not clear any DONE songs in any playlists, SONG mode should have its own clear DONE history and print/save export either all songs in SONG or all DONE songs only, this then allows you to export to customer or band members or just a paper record for yourself.
By having this logic, you do not contaminate your playlists with false information you have the freedom to use the old playlists history to use this information usefully in the future for a number of useful purposes.
Creating future playlists/gigs becomes much easier specially once you allow us to copy and paste songs from playlist to playlist. It just all gels together nicely to be a very logical and useful tool and it maximizes its full potential.
At the moment it does one thing well and thats it, and that is to perform on the night and not play the same song twice , and thats it, no other usefullness.
Its good but not great, and we all know this is a great program so good does not cut it.
