@"OldCodger"#p5699It sounds like you were almost there, once you get to know the softwares limitations you will get a good result.
Let’s do a simple example.
I will show you what I do for the first few lines the rest is the same.
I normally have my first line as the intro chord line and it looks something like this
[00:00:01] A D G A
THIS IS MY INTRO AND IT HIGHLIGHTS THE FIRST LINE AS SOON AS YOU HIT START BUTTON BUT YOU HAVE TO ENTER THE 1 IN YOUR FIRST TIMECODE OR IT WILL IMMEDIATELY HIGHLIGHT THE FIRST LINE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE NOT STARTED THE SONG, so this is one work around it.
Then next line I leave blank to seperate the intro from the verse, this is only for ascetics.
My time-codes are not correct they are just an example.
[00:00:01] A F Bm E A
[00:02:00] A……………………..Bm
Love me tender love me true
[00:04:00] E………………….A
Never let me go
Now what you see above is not correct visually but will play correctly when you perform, the reason the chords appear not to be aligned is because the time code box has shifted the chords to the right, this will actually play ok in lyrics screen , the problem is the software does not compensate for timecode boxes so it makes it hard to align the chords if you are entering them after you entered time-codes, I have pointed this out to Peter already.
I always just copy and paste lyrics play the song enter the time codes and then I enter the chords afterwards , this is a real pain because the chord lines and the lyrics lines are out of sync, so what I do is I shift all my lyrics to the right to align them to the chords line then when I am done I shift all the lyrics lines back again , this is the result below
[00:00:01] A F Bm E A
[00:02:00] A…………………….Bm
………………..Love me tender love me true
[00:04:00] E………………..A
………………..Never let me go
Once I have aligned my chord spacing accordingly then I move the lyrics lines back to beginning of the line, this then plays correctly.
I know it’s a big pain in the rear but there is only one other way and that is also a headache.
What you do is copy and paste your lyrics then enter your chord above the lyrics, then you enter your time codes, now this seems a better way but you will find you have to stop after every line so you can skip from one chord line to the next as the software does not do this automatically, so again you are stopping and starting, so time wise both methods are a pain.
I suggested to Peter to make the software automatically skip the lyrics line if there are chords above the lyrics and not to skip a lyrics line if there are no chords above this would then make the second method much faster. I also suggested if he can hide the time-codes to allow correct editing and printing of songs lyrics with chords so you can export your hard work.
I hope that’s soon to come.
Peter suggested I use the chords in the lyrics line method, this does not appeal to me as it creates a very messy lyrics line especially if you have lots of chords in your song.
I hope I have helped in some way
Cheers DAMIR
Just a note Peter I am using the latest iPad Pro 11 and 15.1 os , I could not get the correct spacing I required to show my examples above so I used dots it seems there is auto formatting happening making it impossible to express my views, is there a way to turn this off I never had this on my other devices , the chord examples spacing is restricted and every line seems to pull everything to beginning of line no matter if space is used or not.
Thanks Damir
