JonathanS I’m still confused how to copy a track from one device to another backup device. The ‘Files’ app doesn’t seem to doesn’t work as I would expect.
Hi Jonathan, depending on what exactly you want out of your backup device, if you want a complete backup on another apple device the simplest way is to create a full backup file on your existing device then locate this file in the ST3 song folder , hold down your finger on the file select share, then choose airdrop, once your other device prompts you to where you want to copy this file to select ST3 , then go to your backup device and open up ST3 then go to settings and choose restore backup choose your full backup file and hit restore, this will now delete all your existing data and create an exact duplicate of your original device ST3 software.
This is a fast efficient way to create a duplicate backup device, i use this method mainly on regular basis because i sometimes loose track what i have done on one device and the other, as i use an iphone as my backup device as it is a Ipone 11 pro max 512gb it has double the capacity of my ipad pro 10.5 256gb which i actually use on stage, the phone is purely a god help me last resort backup , ipad died, stolen, lost, the show can still go on.
But if you need to just transfer a single file or two between devices i would still use AirDrop in the same way but keep a careful eye on what you are doing as you might not have a true full backup after a lot of transfers as things always get forgotten or changed and the two devices allways manage to be slightly different after a while.
Thats why i have chosen my ipad to be the master device where i finish everything off no matter if i use my imac or my iphone i allways complete my final database in ipad that way i know when i update my other two devices using full backup i know all three devices are exactly the same as my ipad.
I hope this has helped you in some way cheers Damir
