Lyrics not syncing on 2nd iPad

I have just purchased this app and started downloading my backing tracks. I have put song lyrics in and time synced them with the time code. I have 2 identical iPads that are both registered to me, I have downloaded the app to the 2nd iPad but when I try and play a song and show the lyrics on the second iPad the lyrics are badly delayed, running about 2 or 3 seconds behind the playback on the primary iPad. This makes it effectively useless for my singer, this feature was the only reason I purchased this app. Please tell me there is a fix or have I wasted my time and money

How did you transfer your songs to the second iPad? With a full backup?

Hi Peter, I am not transferring the songs to the other iPad , I am merely having it play the track silently but show the lyrics synced with the music playing from the main iPad. So the singer gets accurate cues when to sing, only it is not accurate the delays is constantly varying between 1 and 3 seconds so the cues are all wrong on one iPad and correct on the first.

Are you saying that I need to transfer the songs and lyrics to the other iPad and then trigger the second iPad by starting a network on the 1st and having the 2nd connect to the 1st. That does not seem to be how that function is described in the description of this function

You mean you try to hit play the same time on both iPads? Why not use the remote feature of Stage Traxx? See here: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/network-sessions/

peter I am using the remote feature, exactly as you describe in the help section. My iPad is triggering the 2nd iPad but and the2nd iPad displays the lyrics but they are not timed correctly with the primary iPad. I don’t know how to explain this any more clearly. Two musicians, one playing the backing track and playing guitar and singing, and one vocalist. The vocalist is trying to sing from the cues on the 2nd iPad and it is not playing in sync. If I look at both iPads when a song is playing I can see a massive delay

peter To clarify my previous post, when I say the second IPad is not in sync , I do not mean the audio is out of sync, I am not trying to play the backing track from two sources, I mean that the lyrics are not synced with the playback on the 1st iPad

Now I have wasted even more time transferring all the data across to the other iPad, and it it still doesn’t sync up, there is at least a 2 second lag, it is not even a constant time difference, it is varying throughout the track so I cannot put a time offset on. I cannot understand why this doesn’t work properly. Surely this is something that most bands would need, what is the point of going to the trouble of syncing all the lyrics when you cannot then network them effectively?

Ok, so this can be a network lag. The main iPad constantly sends the current playback time to the clients. If this is delayed you have a big network lag. Make sure you use a dedicated Wifi network preferably on 5GHz with a dedicated router. Adhoc Networks are inherently instable especially on stage with lots of people in the room.

peter My reply has disappeared for some reason. I have tried this using my home high speed broadband system which is 5 GHz. I have also tried using a separate discrete WiFi router modem. Neither of these has network lag. Have you personally tried this with two iPads and it has worked without this delay? I need this to work as advertised or The app is not fit for purpose and I will remove it

So you get the lag even on a dedicated network? Hm, I have not heard yet about this kind of problem. Of course I have tested it and lots of other users are using this feature. I also just tried it and both devices are maybe mostly in sync with an occasional delay of maybe 0.1 seconds,

Do you maybe have changed the speed of the songs on the main iPad?

No I haven’t altered the speed on any of the tracks, they are almost all my own original recordings. I wouldn’t be bothered by 0.1 seconds delay, I am getting between 2 and 4 seconds delay. If you like I can take a video of this and show you exactly the problem.
