Lost/Deleted ST2 App ..backup ?

Hi support,
I tried emailing for help the other night, then remembered about the support forum. In summary I need pointers and or advice to "recover" our (band/duo) ST2 App and its playlists !

After 18 months of not gigging nor using the App our worst nightmare happened when setting up our gear for tonight's gig. The ST2 app was deleted in error (not sure how) from my vocalists iPad ! I have a backup iPad with ST2 on it and have spent hours since Thursday night trying to get a set list ready for tonight ; the backup iPad wasn't totally in sync with the main iPad. I have downloaded the ST2 App from the App store and it is now on the vocalists iPad but of course its blank. I do have ST2 backups from pre covid time on my laptop. I've never had to do a back up before so I'm not sure how to and what exactly the backup does eg does it reinstall both lyrics and tracks, does it reinstall all the tweaks done to tracks (like where I've removed click count ins or transposed keys etc) . We will hopefully survive tonight's gig but I want to try and restore or worse case rebuild the 300 plus song master playlist that got lost - start this work tomorrow. Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated. I will read through the manual/help ASAP too . Thanks for any pointers or help. Cheers folks

The version 2 backups contain lyrics and all the tweaks you do to tracks. But they do not contain your tracks. You need to restore those separately in iTunes. So to restore your backups do the following:

sync all your tracks back to the iPad via iTunes
copy the backup file into the app via iTunes filesharing
restore the backup file in Stage Traxx

Btw, the full backups in version 3 are a big improvement in this area as the single backup file contains everything: tracks, lyrics and tweaks.

Cheers Peter. I have both versions. I'll try and persuade my vocalist to update to V3; especially for its backup process and benefits. We survived our 1st gig after the long break. Thanks for your help. I'll hopefully get her playlist back without too many probs 😄

Hi Peter,
I have managed to sync back most of the tracks and restored the last backup. Most of the songs are in red though as they need the link repaired. I'm having to repair the link, then use the Add Song button to get each missing song back (one at a time). Im fine with doing this (lots of songs but I've now got some time to do this. As I've never done a version 2 back up restore before, I'm just wondering if this is how it's done - or is there a quicker way ? I definitely will be pushing my vocalist to move to V3 after all this lol 😆

Are your songs not tagged? If you have set title and artist info on the songs, they should be found automatically.

Before repairing the link I would recommend you first add missing title and artist info and then repair the link. That way you will prevent this problem from reappearing.

If you tap on "Repair link" you select the matching song in the iTunes library. No need to add that song afterwards.

Unfortunately this step can not be automated as each song needs to be reassigned individually. If there would be some automatic way, the app would do it automatically by itself. See here for details why this happens: https://support.stagetraxx.com/d/500-missing-songs

Ahh, yes , thanks again Peter and for the links to the articles. My own ipad and ST2 is much cleaner with regards to naming/tagging etc than the one I'm trying to recover for my vocalist; due to it being a mix of local files and iTunes and of course missing tags on some of them. I'm managing to update her iPad ST2, albeit a bit slower than if as you say the tracks had been properly tagged. The long period of not having to use ST has left me a bit fuzzy re some stuff I should know...my apologies for this. Those articles have helped me a lot I'm understanding what's wrong and what I need to do. Thanks again...very much appreciated !
