peter I like to enter my chords above the lyrics as it feels wright as thats the way i will see it later on screen basically what you see is what you get, its a clear and clean way of working, you can copy and paste easily to complete the lyrics and chords of the whole song very easily.
What i have a major dislike is when i enter Time code in the mix , if i enter the time code on my chords line it shifts that line to the right throwing my visual sync of chords out of time relative to the lyrics below.
If i enter the time stamp on the lyrics line it then shifts this line to the right throwing my visual sync of lyrics relative to chords above.
Then the real time waster is if you want to copy and paste a section with time stamps already entered you are forced to copy the incorrect time stamp of a section and paste it so now you have to manually remove all incorrect timestamp in the pasted version and reenter it, the other option which is also a time waster is errase all time stamp and start all over again, sometimes this is quicker if you have copied a large section of the song.
If you could somehow make Time stamp temporarily dissapear so you can copy, paste and edit just the lyrics and chords this would definitely work.
Also I find that i will always come back to re edit a section the chord type or chord position to perfect the finished sync of lyrics and chord beeing able to do this without Time stamp interference on my visual experiance would help greatly.
All my songs are line time stamped and i love the end result i get, its the way i get there i feel as though its not up to ST3 standard, thats simple logical and easy.
I know you can enter the chords in to the lyrics, but this method makes a visual dogs breakfast of the lyrics as you edit and you still have the same issue when copy pasting sections of song if Timestamp is involved, so i gain nothing if anything i loose the pleasing look of a finished product with the chords above method.
The answer would lie as you said if you could hide time stamp and allow us to just work on the Chords and lyrics, and if you could then allow us to copy and paste sections without the time stamp allowing us to guickly create new sections without time stamps that would be great.
Heres another reason hiding time stamp in edit would greatly help, i find i like to copy and paste my lyrics in to my computer but i dont want the time stamp to show, i just want the lyrics copy i also think hiding the chords would be an advatage as well as you might just want a lyrics only version of the song
At the moment all my songs text backups of ST3 are total nightmare to look at as time stamp is included and the chords and lyrics are all out of sync due to time stamp shifting the lines it sits in, it makes my backup lyrics totaly unusable for anything.
At the moment to get a nice copy of my lyrics and chords i need to clear all timestamp but if i do that i loose my sync info,
A long winded solution is to make a copy of the lyrics with everything in it, then get rid of the time stamps, then make another copy with a different name , then copy the first version back to ST3.
Now this is really bad.
The Solution to everyones problem no matter what they want is to be able to hide or show any combination TIME STAMP, LYRICS OR CHORDS.
At the least TIME STAMP should be hidden.
Thats if any of this is possible
