Improving song scrolling in playlists suggestion

Hi Peter, the problem with selecting a song in playlists and moving them up or down the list is the fact when you reach the top/bottom of that list there is no stop barrier and we overshoot outside this area which then stops the movement or cancels it, what we need is when you select hold and move a song there is no chance to exit this movement till you release the song, the top or bottom barrier should be an end stop point which gives you maximum scroll speed, and as you hit maximum speed you can not move the song past that point.
This then makes it fool proof when wanting high speed scroll and a definite action.
At the moment too many things get in the way of having a definite scroll action , the feel of scroll should be uniform from point of selection to end points of that area so you can easily and safely do this action without any interference from pop up windows or overshooting end points.
Hope it can be improved.

Imagine if you could go to batch edit, select the songs you want to move, then just scroll up or down to a point in the list and double tap it, and the songs just move there?

I don’t expect Peter to answer this, but I hope he reads it.

We are well aware that the drag and drop iOS provides is flaky, it’s obvious when you are in lyric edit, but a real pain in playlists, we are just offering a work around for your consideration, you are a busy man, we know this, but it’s very frustrating when requests are hijacked, when non working solutions are offered.

I think requests needs to be delivered to you in another manner to what we currently have. Personally I think requests should be made after the usual suspects have torn them apart, offered workarounds and then have finally agreed on common ground.

Should i be contacting apple regarding the poor performance of reordering a playlist, i am not familiar with the programming process , to who does what and how its done all i know is its not good to use.
I am giving you feedback to what is basically still not working well, i will now contact apple support and ask them whats the problem with their system.
I never had these sort of issues with much older software, perhaps apple is overcomplicating things and forgetting to get the basics working first before they create new things that actually don't work well at all , their updates so far have been horrible no one i know like the new operating systems on all the devices, i wish they would fix things instead of changing them for the sake of change not improvement.
I have lots more of these little frustrating things i can point out , but it seems like theres no point.
Someone eventually will .

Kevtyler First, I think requests and support works just fine here in the forum.
Second, I gig 2-4 times every weekend, and I have absolutely no problems with scrolling songs, editing playlists and whatever other requests with this regard has been raised. I strongly urge whomever have these issues, to either get more familiar with ST4, maybe even practice using it at home if you don't have enough gigs. These longwinded, hard/impossible to understand posts are getting highly annoying. I support Peter 100%. How some can squeeze his patience to the utter limit never ceases to amaze me.

royandreno Hi Roy , i don't know what version of software you are using , but you obviously don't use playlist scrolling a lot, perhaps your expectations are low , it does not matter, when something is not working as it should or could it needs to be pointed out, because we have used this software for years is why we are reporting these things that don't work well.if you are happy with it thats good for you, but i know how it should be and could be , this would make the software a lot more user friendly, some people are happy riding a bicycle with warped wheels, i like to have perfectly round wheels so i can ride faster and safer.
Theres no need to bash those that have much greater expectation.

Damir iOS 26.5, have used ST4 since november, contradictory to you, who have just started.
I do not have low expectations for ST4. In fact, it does a tremendous job. And I use queue, playlists, sometimes just the songlist. You seem to think that all of us, who do not raise these issues you do, somehow don't understand issues with iOS? We do accept that there are some limitations, and get on with things. Sharon, maybe the one who use ST more than any of us, gigs nearly every day. Do you see him complain about these petty scrolling issues? No.
And some of your postings are so long and cryptic that none of us understand what you are on about. It's why I couldn't be bothered replying to your last post on my feature request. Because you just never let up, see when enough is enough, no idea when to stop.

Now if you think that’s a ridiculous request or suggestion then I would say your expectations are low.
Yes Peter might not be able to fix this but Apple should as it is very low standard programming.
I am not blaming Peter you can only do with what you have , but I will speak to Apple experts and see why this is so poor to operate.
Nothing is impossible it’s only a very small problem that’s causing an issue that’s very annoying.
I have been playing around with ST4 the day it came out but in a testing mentality looking for bad things that don’t work well, I did not want to find things out on stage.
There are still unexpected things that occur that are unexplainable , if I was to report every one I would really drive you nuts and spend all my time writing , luckily I use it very simply and can manage and things are improving each day.
You do your thing and il do mine and hopefully we all end up happy eventually.

Support works great here, but in relation to requests, you are talking through your hat mate, Requests get hijacked, there are requests that are common to multiple users, Peter makes one comment, the brown noses all click like on his comment, additional evidence to support the request is ignored or unacknowledged. Peter is a busy man, I don’t expect a personal response every time I request something, but it would be nice to know he read your request yes.

Damir has highlighted issues and made requests, Ive added jelly and custard on top, and now Peter is peed off which I get.

The request process does not work, and this is why maybe people pitch the same request too many times and pee everyone including Peter off.

I think people should collaborate away from the day to day stuff, and argue their points and then when a few guys agree, pitch the request to Peter away from all the, st4 is fine how it is crowd, or the I want ten buttons not 9 crowd, do you not see the logic in that.

I’ve been using St for years since st2, I do 5 gigs a week or 3 if I’m lazy, I put a weeks practise in using queue before I gigged with queue then realised it’s not for me. Please don’t tell granny how to suck eggs.

As Peter said last week, he’s concentrating on bug fixes more than anything. I do feel your pain mate but feel there’s little you can do right now.

I was gutted to be honest that your batch edit then double click to choose a destination fell on deaf ears, it’s a no brainer, why the others can’t see the usefulness of this makes me wonder are they all using much smaller playlists and dragging smaller numbers of songs about, which I admit is a walk in the park ??

Kevtyler Hi Kev, thanks for the backup, you know the old saying , you can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.
English is my first language I was 9 when we came to Australia, I also speak and write fluent Croatian, I sing some songs in Italian as well but can’t speak it.
We are a multicultural society so lots to consider when performing.
