Mini command to luminair

I have been trying to connect stagetraxx to luminair. I want to play a Song and that Song should trigger light effects or vice versa. I have Gotten so far to connect my luminair to stagetraxx in the midi input section.

I am also aware about the midi programming in the lyrics section of the song. I just dont know which programming code to put in (i read the manual - am a total Amateur on the subject though). If i type in the supposed code and try to midi learn the Song on luminair--> nothing happens, it does not pick up the code.

What am i missing, or more, am i even doing it right?

For your informartion: we are a Sports bar and we would like to use the light effects + sound when a team scores a goal.

I would be very thankful for any help or Tips, that could teach me how to handle this subject.

Do you have Luminaire and StageTraxx running on the same or individual devices? And what are you looking to do in Luminaire - trigger a scene?

First you will need to find out which MIDI commands Luminair supports. Then you need a plan, when to send which midi command (so when to trigger certain actions in Luminair). Once you have this in place, we can help with how to write those commands in ST4.

Luminaire expects the user to teach it what MIDI commands to use for what (much like ST does). So more that anything begin with a plan, like:

In ST song X, I want to trigger Luminarie scene A on playback. For that, use MIDI Note On 0.
etc

I use this setup. I have an artNet adapter connected to my lights via DMX. The adapter is wired to a wireless router using an Ethernet cable. Once connected you can connect your iPad to the private network. As mentioned you need to create scenes in Luminair and assign each scene to a specific midi value. Once you have done that you can use the lyric editor to enter the midi value at certain points in the song. I myself use a midi keyboard to trigger the events and scenes while midi listen is on during playback of the track in the editor. It is a little tricky getting all of the connections but once you have it connected it works well.

Here is a sample of the midi command with time stamps. Meant to trigger the scene change at the exact moment in a song - like going from verse to chorus as example

The first line is me depressing the key and the second line is the release of the same key. It captures both actions. The midi note change is the actual scene change in Luminair

Mrjonsong: I understand. i do have the same setup (art net adapter), but its connected via wireless to the router and the router to the ipad. Is your set up also possible without midi keyboard (i have one but it would be much easier for my employees to trigger it over the ipad). i would want to use it more or less as a soundboard with light effects, being triggered on either and (one way or the other).

You decide this, by using Luminaire’s MIDI learn feature. From its manual:

Depends on how you set up Luminair. If you can learn MIDI commands in Luminair, it should not matter if you use note on or off. Make the choice for one and stick to it. Then learn that command in Luminair.

What makes the workflow a bit awkward to explain, is that in order to learn, you need to have a way to trigger your midi message of choice. That can of course be ST which means you have to program it there first. Or use a midi keyboard and teach both ST and L using that. As I said, hard to explain in words.
