Hi Peter, many thanks for the latest updates and all the plans for the future update, just wondering if I could ask another possible update in regards to the scroll function on the secondary device when in host mode.
the scenario... as a duo I use the host iPad and my guitarist uses the secondary slave iPad to view the same song and music etc. This works perfectly when we have a track loaded and the screen scroll with the track (time coded).
the problem I am finding is when I load a placeholder or song with a track attached but want to perform it acoustically without the track playing I then manually scroll the music with the use of a foot pedal.
This works fine on my Host iPad but won’t scroll the slave iPad screen it just sits at the start of the song, and if you link a foot pedal to the slave ipad this still won’t scroll the music as we are in a hosting/slave situation.
So what I’m actually asking is, would there be a way for the slave to mimic the manual scroll on the host iPad (that would be the perfect solution, so it scrolls as it does to a track from my screen and control), or a second solution would be able to scroll with a foot pedal on the slave device while connected to a host iPad?

if possible the first option is better for me so I can then control the place in the song incase I jump back to a verse etc I can select all that and it will just happen on the slave screen, but either option will be very helpful for acoustic numbers especially where you can’t get a track for the songs so they are in the placeholder song?

many thanks and once again thank you for taking the time to listen to all our ideas and requests it really is so appreciated and your customer service is second to none.
many thanks Jeff. :

OK, I thought about this a bit.

Following the scrolling of the host iPad on a slave does not work as both devices might have different screen size / orientation / layout. That's why timecoding is important when using network sessions. Without timecoding you can't get consistent scrolling due to the above reasons.

What does work though is to support pedal commands to scroll up / down. I guess this is just an oversight on my side that I forgot to add support for pedal commands in the network view but it definitely makes perfect sense.

This is a minor change and I will add it in the next update.

    4 years later

    Hi Peter,
I know I’m 4 years late to this party but I’m only experiencing the issues now.

Since it has been 4 years after your approved status and I missing something fundamentally obvious that I haven’t ticked or done on my slave iPad?

Did slave following host scrolling get implemented?
    Thank you

orgazmojedi No it has not been implemented, i also would expect to see just a mirror image on the slave , so my partner can see when i choose a different loop so they know exactly where i am going with the song as its fantastic how we can manipulate the arrangement of a song but this definitely needs to be also shown to all other slaves so we can all be on the same path.
      This is essential.
I am fortunate i only use host unprofessionally but if i had regular band members using slaves i can see they would not be satisfied with existing view options.
I think Peter is working on ST4 and that might fix a lot of our existing requests.
      Cheers Damir

The "Approved" tag means that I added support for manual scrolling via pedals on the client device.

As I already explained, you can not use manual scrolling commands from a host on an slave device with completely different font and screen sizes. This will not change in the future.

Would it be possible to just mirror the screen to the slave that way you will see the loops and all scrolling , yes you wont be able to select your own stuff on the slave but a lot of us dont need that we just want to see exactly whats going on so by using mirror the screen to other devices would be all we need.
Or is that not possible,i believe you can do this to a TV , i have not researched this so perhaps you can expand on the process if possible.

Damir I agree that using existing technology to airplay your device to other external monitors could be done without any development. I did this as a test during practice and general mirroring was a fine experience. Of course, it requires a Roku or Apple TV, but, we usually have those lying around ; )

Ahhha! That’s the problem , I don’t want any more tackons, I just want a simple way to mirror one devices screen to other nearby devices without fuss.
I think it’s a reasonable request , perhaps it can already be done 🤔😳I Duno 😩

Well I was looking into a lyrics only 3rd monitor (fun karaoke thing) using my HDMI out from the usb-c adaptor.

Since my 2nd iPad (slave) is also my backup maybe I’ll remove this from usage and keep it as a backup only and just mirror the host and find the most appropriate screen on a stand?

To me that sounds far easier than adding a track and timing all lyrics for my hundreds of ‘non BT’ songs

Hi guys, My guitar player hosts the session, but I call the songs, I like to jump from song 1 to song 35 at times, I don’t like having to ask him to scroll back to song 2 in order to see what’s next or what’s available as it makes us look a bit disorganized, but if that’s the way it must be I guess I’ll have to accept it. Having the option for me to scroll his list with a pedal will help, thanks Peter.

Apparently you cant mirror from 1 ipad to another unless you have them both on the same wifi network and then you need third party software.
I find this unbeliavable we can airdrop huge data files between devices but we cant mirror a screen, go figure.
