lperry65 I’d very much like to make Stage Traxx part of my live setup, but I need a realistic way to migrate an existing catalogue without data loss or significant manual effort.
It sounds like Chord Pro works very similar to ST4.
It has its own system of file transfer to work nicely within itself and not with other software.
I have been trying to point out that this is a major failing in all programs that work in that way.
I should be able to impart bulk files .txt from NOTES, WORD, PDFs from PDF editors , audio files from DAWs in stereo or multitrack with the SHARE command , a simple select and SHARE with ST4 , and presto, I just get on with ST4 without the need to figure out how do I do this the hard way.
Example of it working well is a program called TWISTED WAVE , you simply load an audio file in to it EDIT IT and export it directly in to ST3 NO PROBLEM WORKS PERFECTLY, but can I do that the other way , unfortunately NO, so it can be done it’s just not being done,
This would simplify life for end users greatly , we could simply create a PDF in an editor share it with ST4 and a song is created for us or the old version is updated with a choice.
This applies to .txt files if Chord pro had a simple bulk export of .txt format file directly pointed to ST4 all your text songs would be transferred in one hit , no fuss.
ST4 is also limited where you can’t export files that way , its using its own format others can’t use, and that’s understandable as this is also needed , my point is there also needs to be a way to transfer standard files to other software for EDITING and a way back to ST4 that works seamlessly, we the users are wasting a lot of unnecessary time to bounce between various software that we desperately need yet the developers of all this software don’t seem to realise who ever creates an easy way to do this will end up with more users of their software.
Example , I love LOGIC because I can drag and drop my files in to it , child’s play and I love it, this sort of ease of use is why I use LOGIC , but can I export my stereo file in to ST4 directly, NO, yet a very cheap and easy to use program like TWISTED WAVE can do it with ST3 only, but not ST4 , this to me shows that no one is really thinking about the end users needs, they are all to busy designing very complicated plug ins that minority of users use.How many different EQs , compressors, etc do we really need yet we can’t simply transfer data from one bit of software to another.
I know this doesn’t help you but I am explaining to you where the problem lies and it’s not purely ST4 , I blame all software developers that haven’t realised this problem and pushe to get it fixed.
