Please help ST4 won’t accept ST3 back up

Please help ! I have been using Sage Traxx for 10 years , just upgraded to ST4 and it will not accept my ST3 back up ! This is my job , all my songs are in that back up .

What can I do

Whatever device you use make sure you have enough disk space to make a full backup, compre the final file size to your previous last backup , it should be larger depending on how long ago you made it.
If you are using the same device as your ST3 software you will need even more space on the disk as ST4 will import the full backup and use up double your full backup size.
Example
If your full backup is 10gb you need at least 10gb of space and if you include ST3 thats another 10gb total of 30 gb , and if you have a number of old ST full backups this adds up where a small capacity drive device will have a problem.
I believe thats your problem because i had similar issues with a 256gb ipad , once i cleared it and gained more space on it my transfer issue went away.

You still got ST3, right? Keep that until you are confident in ST4.

If you get a ZIP error it means the file is incomplete. Create a new backup or copy the file again to your device, then make sure the file size is the same as in the original and then restore the backup.

So all I tried to do was restore a known working ST3 back up into ST4 and yes I got the zip error peter are you suggesting I create a other back up of my ST3 and try again ? I absolutely love this app and recommended it to many of my solo musician colleagues . Fortunately I still have ST3 .

Make sure your backup is completing successfully. You need as much free space for the Full Backup, as the entire ST3 install with all its audio files. If you have 10GB of audio files, your backup files will be about 10GB.

Assuming the backup is actually viable, then make sure the file has transferred successfully. Cloud transfers can be unreliable for a file that big. AirDrop will be more reliable, but slow. A USB drive is often the best, fastest, most reliable method (plus gives you another backup location).

Then when restoring, you'll need as much free space as the backup file. 10GB file, you'll need at least 10GB free space to restore that into ST4.

Network transfers like Airdrop or cloud drives sometimes struggle with multi gigabyte files. An iOS compatible USB drive might indeed be a better way to transfer large backups.
