Multitrack set up

Are there step-by-step instructions for how to set up multitrack songs in ST4? From what I’ve seen so far it’s far more difficult than in than ST3. After spending some 2 hours trying to set up 1 multitrack song without success, I’m ready to stick with ST3 where it was dead easy. Is there a “select all” option so that multiple stems can be added to a song? It seems that only one stem can be added to a song because when another is selected the first selection is deleted.

I can’t imagine Peter developing an upgrade where simple, effective functionality is lost so I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And decided to stay in stereo.
Reason
I don’t have enough years left in my life to import 400 songs as multitracks.
Firstly the DAW work I need to do.
Secondly the import to ST4 work i need to do .
Perhaps if I was 20 again and starting from scratch.
By 30 I might have my repertoire ready to go.🤣😩
But I do love the multitrack capability and would have loved to be able to have it as it would sound great and give me more ways to manipulate the backing on the run.
But I think I missed the boat.😢🚢

Actually it got far easier. There are no longer different song types. Follow these steps: https://stagetraxx.com/docs/v4/getting-started/#creating-a-song-manually

Now in Song Details, open the Audio tab, and add as many tracks as you like: https://stagetraxx.com/docs/v4/song-details/audio/#audio-tracks

That's it.

Thanks for your prompt reply Peter. After another look at the documentation and getting used to the new layout and workflow, everything is going fine. I've now started converting my current playlist to take advantage of the extra tracks. At this stage it's probably taking 20-30 minutes to convert each song depending on the number of tracks, export time from my DAW, import into ST4 and setting up track details. I think it will certainly be worth it given the extra features in ST4.
Luckily I don't have 400 songs to change like Damir!

Thanks again for the work you've done on Stage Traxx over the years. It really is a great app for live performance.

It took 2 years to convert my tracks to multitrack and since beta was out i started (on another ipad) to setup
further stems splits and new buss assignments. I (kinda) finished today finally.
I still have a few songs, mainly my originals that I need to split more stems, it's been a hell of a journey
but well worth it.

I will now need to run all 540 tracks live at home, full setup, multi buss outputs (drums, bass, etc) with AUv3 processing on most busses, it'll take some time, but most tracks will be easy. some will definitely take a full couple runs to get the perfect volume for all tracks and stems/busses.

It is a crazy setup and not for everyone. time and effort will never be paid for, I do it for me.
I wanted this kind of setup ever since I used to use cakewalk 3 and a sound canvas (midi setup back in the 90s - was very flexible) now running on an ipad and controls my pedal, vocals, DMX lights etc.

Yes I can relate to your effort, if I was to show you my previous setups to simply get a multi timbral keyboard you would have a great laugh,
Technology has certainly come a long way .

Sharonzaz I used the sound canvas equivalent back then, TWO Korg NS5R to play the midis. Those were the days, no one else knew how to do it.

At some point i had the SC88Pro as a main sound source and the other two outputs for bass and click, D4 for drums, JV1010 for extra pianos, strings etc.
quite the setup. had it all wired in separate tracks into my mixer. if i played with a drummer I'd just mute the D4, etc etc if i had a bassist.

For some reason i had a quick catchup with my 1996 keyboard player last night, he had an XP50 and all my tracks were started working on his keyboard, later in 1997 exported to work in CakeWalk. I used to go to his house (he wouldn't lend me the keys) and sit day in and day out doing those tracks, some of those became later my Mp3 tracks and those were the starting phase of what i use today.
earlier than that I worked on the MC50. what a terribly difficult and complex unit but that's what we had.
