Is it possible for stagetraxx to send midi commands over a WiFi network? I have dmx app sending over WiFi to my enttec open dmx ethernet converter but wanted to embed midi in the lyrics to control the lights. Is this possible and how do I work out the code please as its driving me nuts.

peter no I want to send midi to trigger dmx light changes via WiFi. I have a enttec converter which will control the lights but I would like to use midi code within stagetraxx to send the changes over WiFi to the enttec dmx converter and then out to lights.

The enttec dmx converter does not understand midi as far as I can tell.

peter what would the midi commands be for my lights? I have a kam party bar v2.
    In manual an example shows
Channel5 = adjust the green light brightness. 0-255 The first green light. How would the be written in midi? I just need code to see if it would and if not then I have wasted £80☹️

The party bar speaks DMX, not MIDI. To control your lights via MIDI you need a DMX software that speaks to your DMX interface and that will send DMX signals to you lights. You need to find a DMX software that works with your DMX interface and understands MIDI. Then you program your light scenes in the DMX software and just send program changes from ST3 to the software to switch between scenes you have setup in there.

peter OK I have software that I have setup on ipad it's called vibrio. How would I send midi commands to it? What would those commands look like please?

Nathcloud9 Contact Vibrio and ask what Midi commands you need to send. The manual of Vibrio does not mention Midi even once.

Once you know the commands, I can show you how to format them in ST3.

peter OK I will try, it does do midi as there was a menu I noticed in top right and when I opened it it had stagetraxx as a midi interface and had somehow picked up some sort of commands like 117 etc but didn't really tell me anything more than that😊

Nathan, It sounds like You are missing a step out mate. The video You sent me , the bloke has a single board computer, an arduino that generates dmx signals, my system and the video I sent, I have a program on my laptop that generates dmx signals, the entecc thing you bought does not create dmx patterns, it allows dmx commands to be transmitted over WiFi or cable I think ? alleviating the need for a dmx cable, you still need to generate dmx signals that your lights understand, this dmx generator-program needs to see midi, I don’t think vibrio sees midi as I couldn’t find it. Have you got vibrio to actually control your lights yet, have you set the dmx receive channel in the menu on your lighting unit ? this is your first step, create a scene with vibrio then figure out how to get that scene to be triggered by the midi command of your choice.

          Kev

edit, ok Nathan sent me a vid and vibrio is seeing stage trax commands so he’s ahead of me already. Good luck mate.
