Currently using build 2229
I'm not sure if this is an intentional thing and I need to change how I work, or unintentional and open to change.
In the Regions Editor, when I'm fine-tuning the edges of regions, I'll often zoom in and out.
As I'm dragging the region edge drag handles, audio seems to always auto-play (is it possible to have a toggle to disable this? I find it incredibly annoying and unnecessary) so I have to hit the Pause button. This always sends the Playhead back to the start of the song because my global setting in Settings -> Playback Settings is Stop Behavior = Rewind
When I then Zoom In/Out, the Waveform view immediately resets back to where the Playhead is, at the start of the song.
I find myself constantly fighting against the audio auto-play when dragging region handles, and then the region view resetting back to Playhead location when I make any change to Zoom.
I suspect part of the problem is my workflow, so I'm happy to take guidance on how to work more effectively here.
Based on what I'm currently doing, I would love to see:
- A button on the control bar under the waveform that toggles on/off audio auto-play whenever you drag a region (as I assume there are people that want this on by default?).
- Using a zoom control stops resetting the view to wherever the playhead is located, and instead stays in the current view location. I do usually have the 'Follow Playhead' toggle enabled but this doesn't seem to alter the behaviour.
- Maybe, in the Region Editor, the global Stop Behaviour should not apply to the Play/Pause button? After all, this is a different 'function' and what you want for global Song Stop as opposed to in the Region Editor. In the Region Editor, I would always want Pause to actually Pause 'in place' and not Rewind. Yes, I can work around this by changing the global setting when editing audio regions, and then turning it back when finished, but I hate changing these global settings temporarily as I can guarantee I will forget to set it back 1 in 5 times!
