Sorry but I disagree we have plenty of feedback to say we are playing as the stop start button turns RED , the now playing segment is white surround and the inner colour turns black then the progression bar inside the segment is moving through the segment .
This is more then enough indication to know what is happening, by introducing a play icon just contaminates this area and actually makes it harder to see when something changes in this area , having this blank is an advantage because when something else like loop or stop , skip, next icons pop up there it’s more obvious then always having an icon there so when it changes it’s much harder to notice a change as you always have an icon present.
I think it works against us and is unnecessary clutter.

Damir Yes, you are right, then just the “next region” could have an icon, snd the << or >> could show you that next region is off screen, so you need to scroll if you want to see it.

But please, remove flashing… for me (strong myopia), it’s really disturbing.

I think also people with epilepsy would have an issue with this.

I agree with you but only partially, yes the segment indicators are way too much, but no I find the scroll bar segment flashing very useful and not disturbing at all but helpful.

Damir These are the situations where having an option to select what functionality you want. For example: “Show regions on progress bar ”ON/OFF”

You want a flashing, colored progress bar: you turn the option ON
I don’t want a flashing, colored progress bar: you turn the option OFF

I am happy, you are happy.

Peter is not so happy now, because that’s more work for him, but he will be happy when the super cool and awesome ST4 will attract new users 🙂

I think that’s because they don’t flash in sync if they flashed together it would be a lot more eye friendly.

My opinion:

Flashing in both progress bar and region buttons (or waveform view) is fine.
I can make the progress bar flashing configurable
I see no point in the additional icon displayed in the current playing region. I too find it too distracting without any valuable info.

Thank you! I'm in the 'less flashing' and other distractions camp so as long as there is a way to turn these things down/off I'm happy 😁

I find it distracting because it’s in all the segments , I was expecting a simple jump arrow to be displayed in the now playing segment whenever you select a next segment so you have some idea what’s happening if the newly selected segment is out of sight , the flashing in the narrow pizza is then a second indicator to which part you have chosen , this logic follows all other functions indicator logic and is simple to understand , otherwise we are lacking important information to what’s actually happening.
At the moment you have placed icons on all segments , this is not good as it’s overwhelming and unnecessary,
Every function should be clearly and simply presented just as we have now all the icons appear and disappear as they should, before it was very miss leading .
People that don’t use segments heavily may not understand my logic and find it in their face but people that actually use segments to jump around will agree there needs to be clear guidance of what is happening.

I love it , now the logic of operation is perfect , your not liking it is because it’s a new idea and it takes time to adjust, but now we have visual feedback to what’s happening next even if we don’t see the next segment we have a warning to say you are jumping and a second confirmation in the pizza to where exactly .
As I am performing my focus is mainly on lyrics screen , second focus point is the now playing segment progress bar telling me when it’s coming to a change, having a next icon appear or any icon for that matter is very convenient specially as the segment is always in middle of screen , as I glance to this point and see a next icon and its warning me of a jump I then throw my focus on to the pizza to confirm which way and which colour section , because I colour my segments consistently the same colour I know that ORANGE is a CHORUS in all songs this prepares my mind to sing another chorus as soon as the switching occurs.
This whole process happens very quickly , but now I have easy visual confirmation to what is about to happen and the beauty of the whole logic is I can change my mind last moment and choose a different CHORUS SOLO OR ANY OTHER SEGMENT and the visual feedback just follows, this now has flow and a comfortable way of working.
Things I still think are unnecessary.
The thin pizza bar is frustrating me because I want to see all segments colours as bright as can be so I can see clearly the flashing white one and its colour no matter where I choose to jump to.
There is no advantage of having dark mode , actually it is a disadvantage if you are relying on it if you are heavily using colour as a guide.
The progress bar should be simple , it is fully lit with a bright triangle showing where you are within this fully lit area if using segmenting it’s still the same fully lit with colours, simple.
If you don’t like the pizza bar then change to waveform view , in this mode the thin pizza is pointless as its exactly the same as the waveform view so why have it , it should be gone to declutter the interface .

One point, if you don’t display an icon and you don’t use the thin progress bar you now have no clue what’s happening next.

peter Maybe it would make more sense to have it in the “next in line” region. I would even prefer that instead of blinking, but maybe that’s just me

Hi Peter, can the flashing of the next segment be in sync with the small progress bar segment, it would be more appealing to the eyes if both were in sync, otherwise it is distracting if both are in view at the same time.

No, flashing can not be run in sync without major changes to the app.

peter ok , its not a mayor issue, but a nicety , my problem is i cant see it properly on the dark parts of the progress bar. The idea works it does a good job telling us whats next but if fails in the dark parts of the progress bar, yes you needed the dark to contrast with the light when we had no triangle , now that we know exactly where we are we don't need the dark idea anymore.
To get one idea working properly the other has to change or else it just wont work.
