Progress bar playhead indicator

Improve the visuals of the progress bar by adding a playhead indicator, similar to what we have on the waveform/regions. As you can see in my mock-up, I think a translucent circle would be nice. Optionally, also connect the two with a line.

Effectively, it actually would become the drag handle. Maybe the circle could grow while dragging, so it may be seen under the fingertip?

Edit: I just realized it is called ”progress bar”, not mini scrubber. But can’t figure out how to edit the post title. 😊

The progress bar is contained in the title view. I can not overlay it with a transparent circle that needs to be partly outside of the title view. I can add a white line like in the waveform view though.

I feel a single line may become too subtle. How about this? Is it possible to partly overlay inside the title view?

That was the fastest turnaround for a feature request to delivery I think I have seen here. I will forever cherish the Pizza-Playhead a bit extra. Maybe take a small slice of credit for it. 🍕

I think someone has already suggested this and i agree with this logic, but cant find the post.
I also suggest this little change to improve visual feedback.
As the bar progresses with the brilliant triangle , the pizza ahead view is dark and all the segments are harder to see as we are progressing through the song, i also think it would be better to have it in reverse , so the dark pizza is left behind us as its not as important anymore, so we can more clearly see the colours of upcoming segments.

On second thought, do we really need the dark mode now that we have the TRIANGLE?
I think i would rather see all colour segments more clearly in the progress bar.

Damir Yes, to me it would also seem more “logical” to have the region colors reversed in the title bar. So colors before the 🍕 (LOL) would be more darker than colors after the pizza 🍕

I think the dark vs bright is perfect, because it will help you see even easier where you are in the song. Many people would probably not even see the 🍕 , especially if they’re not hungry 😋

I have an idea! Now that we have the bright white triangle i am feeling the dark mode is not needed why?
I rather see all my colours in the pizza as bright so i can easily recognise them at a distance.
Reason is i use colour very heavily to recognise song parts , the triangle is now easy to see where i am at a glance but the colours are not specially if they are darkened.
I have an idea to kill two birds with one stone
I suggest, if we select a next segment that pizza segment flashes white alerting us where we are jumping to if its repeating the same segment it still flashes the segment with the triangle in it.
This then eliminates the problem of not knowing where we are jumping to when next segment is out of sight, the pizza comes to the rescue and shows us where.
The other thing i would add is a jump icon in the now playing segment so you see you are jumping and in the pizza you see where to,
Example

Both the next segment and its pizza bar flash to indicate where we are going and the arrow points either left or right to send us to the correct direction in the song we are about to jump.
Now if we don't see the next segment in view we still have the arrow telling us go left and the flashing white pizza segment saying yes you are jumping to the yellow segment which is VERSE 2.
All my songs are fully segmented and have consistent colour coding which represent song parts.
Intros = red
Verses = blue
Choruses = orange
Solos = green
Breaks = purple
Endings = second red colour

Key changes.
Verses = light blue
Choruses = yellow
This warns me of key changes
All colours also represent energy levels
Blues are cooler meaning less energy so they are verses.
Orange, yellows are warmer colours representing more energetic parts like choruses.
Unusual parts like breaks, bridges or stops are purple warning me something different is happening.
Two different reds are , one for intros the other for endings.
COLOUR to me is very important and useful, thats why i propose having the pizza bar fully lit, so i can easily see the colours in all parts of my song .
Having the bright triangle is all i need to see where i am at all times and a bright flashing segment to tell me where i am going is all thats needed.
This then makes the pizza even more valuable.

You seem to think of the long progress bar itself as ”the pizza”, because it resembles a thin pizza seen in profile. While some here (me included) means the white triangle, because it resembles a slice of pizza seen from above.
