play next mode returns to the first video in the playlist

I'm using version 1.0.5 for Mac OS di Stage Cue. I want to use a pedal to start the next video in my playlist. If I press the pedal while a video is playing, it works perfectly. However, if the video ends, the start returns to the first video in the playlist. I would like it to stop at the end of the video and stay at that point so that when I press the pedal the next video will start.

jlord766 It would help if you described what you are trying to achieve overall.

Based on your post, it sounds like you:

Only want a video to play when you trigger it
When the video finishes - nothing happens, no video plays (you might have a background image or something, but you didn't share these details so I'm guessing) until you trigger start of next video using a MIDI trigger set to 'Play Next'

In this scenario, you cannot have your individual video Play Mode set to 'Play Next' (ref: https://stagecue.app/user-guide/video-settings/)
As Peter mentioned, you need to use a Play Mode of Stop (or Loop if that works for you).

The play next mode will continue playing the next video. If the last video has this play mode, it will continue with the first video. If you don't want that, you can set the play mode to stop on the last video.

If you only only want to play the next video when you press the pedal, you need to use another playback mode. Either loop or stop.

I’m new to Stage Cue but I have the same issue. With all of my videos in stop mode, play next midi input will still play the first video in the list if the current video playback has stopped instead of the next video in the list. Can we have a selection so that the play position in the list is not reset to the beginning (unless maybe when you’re at the end of the list)? I would like to be able to let a video loop, stop it from the global midi stop, let the background video play or use the background image, then play the next video in the list after the one that stopped (before the background video) with the global midi play next trigger.

JeffG It sounds like the idea of a Playlist (to use Stage Traxx language) would need to be introduced, so that there is a pre-defined, sequential list of videos that can be worked through. Videos could then be re-used multiple times in a list, and irrespective of the Play Mode of a video or if SC engages a video with Background mode enabled, the 'next video' triggered would be the next one on the list.

I'd suggest fleshing out your requirements and then opening a new thread as a feature request for Stage Cue so others can up-vote if they would also want that feature, and Peter can review.

When the videos are set to stop and playback stops at the end, there is no more current video playing. So using the play next trigger will start playing from the beginning.

The video board is not a playlist. It does not remember what you played last.

So the only option would be to set videos to play in a loop until you press the next trigger.

For my use case that kind of defeats the use of the default video or image. I can still get the job done as you suggest by inserting the chosen default video and or a black or a static image in a looping video between each song video, though it will be a bit more cluttered list. It’s a bit tricky triggering cues with a midi foot pedal while drumming.
