Difficulty in adjusting positions of audio regions

If you add an audio region and try to accurately set the start and end points it is near impossible to achieve. I seem to remember on earlier beta versions this wasn’t an issue.

DickyDutch This was reported in the beginning of testing the audio segment editor is not usable to create precise loops , the best explanation for this is just compare it to ST3 and you will easily see the difference.

Steps to demonstrate problem that exists on my ipad 6th gen running ios 17
1. Select any song for which an audio region(s) is required
2. Tap on the song details button at bottom of screen (next to the mixer} then tap on Regions to open the Edit Audio Regions screen
3. Tap on the + icon and add a region
Now try to adjust the start and end points of the region by dragging the tabs right or left as required. The taps ether refuse to move or move a lot very suddenly making it difficult /impossible to set the precise point where you need them. The movement is totally jerky. The situation on my iphone 16 ios 18 is better but not brilliant and certainly not as good and precise as ST3
I personally couldn't use this function as it is - sorry Peter

So it is a performance issue. That view is not yet optimized.

Started working on this issue but it requires bigger code changes. It will take a couple of days to fix this.

Greatly improved the audio regions editor in build 2055.

Everything should now feel much smoother. I had to disable the audio previews during dragging as they made everything choppy.

If you find any issues I have not addressed yet, please create separate threads.

I was waiting for this update before providing any feedback as I suspected exactly this. Working in audio editor felt sluggish and like you were always battling against extremely high CPU load or something. I suspected the audio preview over drag was a culprit and was actually going to ask whether there could be an option to disable it as it is not a feature I ever need when defining audio regions.
