The arrow is bothering my brain.
Why is it there?
Or should it be there for another reason for us to actually benefit on stage.
Now logic is unnecessary , conflicting and unnecessary.
Why?
If you play a loop and this arrow is showing , it’s telling you to suck eggs , the next loop is going to play , we don’t need it ST3 does not have it and we all know what’s next.
If I go off to another loop that’s off screen and select my next loop then I am back on the now playing loop the ARROW IS TELLING ME WRONG INFORMATION it’s pointing to my next door loop which is not what’s about to happen , as the next loop to play is out of sight ready to go, this is FALSE and unnecessary information.
This is how I feel the ARROW should be used.
The arrow is not a selectable thing , it is purely an indicator to what’s about to happen ,
All loops without arrows are assumed to play in order as expected so there is no arrow, the arrow only appears if you have chosen another loop that’s not the next door loop , in other words the arrow becomes a useful indicator that’s there when you choose the next loop thats outside our view, this then warns us we are jumping to next selected loop, when it’s not there it means we are moving to next door loop as expected.
This applies to having a pre programmed SKIP/STOP , if you have a pre programmed function it’s sign is present to warn you of it existence , but if you choose to select another loop to go to next the arrow overrides it and shows you are jumping to the new request, if that request is canceled last moment the pre programmed icon appears again and does what you have programmed.
The idea is that we don’t have any need to select another arrow it becomes our more important indicator as to what’s happening next .
This then reduces the MODE tap dancing , in audio segments we only have one option with two variants and that’s LOOP selection , a single tap loops once a double tap loops permanently and another single tap cancels loop , no other selections are needed.
SKIP & STOP is programable in the editor.
It can be bypassed live if needed
The arrow indicator pops up to indicate we are jumping to another loop NOT GOING TO NEXT DOOR LOOP. that’s obvious.
The audio segments are much cleaner as we don’t have arrows everywhere telling us not much anyway.
It’s a total win win for all and no conflicting false info on display .
The aim is to make sure whatever we choose to do is as immediate as possible and the indicators are telling us exactly what’s happening next but getting out of sight if not in use.
The matter of STOP/pause and auto select next loop , as I said earlier if I choose this mode in settings then I don’t need to program a STOP unless I want it permanently there on a particular song , because if I’m in the second half of the playing loop the stop command immediately obeys by next wish and jumps to the beginning of the next to play loop, either a chosen one or the last touched loop , meaning we have absolute control over what we do at an instant and the indicators just follow our instructions.
At the moment we have lots of non logical actions that are happening because there is no order or deep thinking put in to the operation of how things should flow to make it absolutely easy on stage , that’s understandable as this is work in progress I am no expert in programming but I do have a lot of experience in what works and what doesn't I really have a lot of respect for programmers it’s mind boggling how they make things happen.
I just hope I haven’t confused you all the way I have written , I hate texting or writing it never comes out as I expect but if I’ve triggered one helpful change it’s worth it.
Keep on thinking I mean rockn!
To add to this logic.
If you have programmed a SKIP/STOP in a loop and its icon shoving if you decide last seconds to repeat this segment a simple touch on the segment puts you in to loop mode the sign changes to single repeat, upon the loop starting again the pre programmed SKIP/STOP sign reappears and you know exactly what’s next , if you then choose another loop to be next , the arrow appears instead indicating you are jumping to the next selection , this then uses the indicators wisely and makes it absolutely clear what is going on next , and this logic provides us with a powerful and simple way to get on with our show.
Sorry I do things as they pup up in my thoughts.
Otherwise I forget , I’ve lost lots of good ideas by not immediately noting them down including song compositions.
