Workflows are quite a personal things, so I'll be interested to see feedback from others in case my workflow is noticably different and therefore this optimization request doesn't suit others.
ST4 Build: 1905
Device & iOS Version: iPad 9th Gen, iOS 26.0.1
Current Limitation / Use Case:
When creating a New Song my workflow is generally the same and at a very high level looks like this:
- In ST create new song
- Fill in Song Information (title, artist, Year, Notes (if any)
- Add audio files and set up track order, bus routing, etc.
- Import lyrics
- Define Regions
In ST4 1905, Moving through Steps 1-3 above are a bit clunky (aside from the 2 bugs I also raised today) in that after the initial New Song screen where you import audio and/or fill in some Song Information, you are dropped back to the song list. You then have to go through the song list to find the song you just created, open it, and then you are at the Song Detail page where you can continue the setup of your new song (i.e. Steps 3+ above)
Proposed Feature:
After the initial new Song creation, rather than drop us back to the song list, would it be more efficient to then take us directly to the Song Details screen of the new song.
Benefit / Impact:
This would save numerous clicks after every New Song creation and streamline the workflow.
I guess the counter might be, are there people who, perhaps knowing they have to create 5 new songs, prefer to create the 5 songs and then circle back and do the Song Detail work on each song one at a time afterwards?
Implementation Idea (optional):
Change or Add an additional the workflow option on the New Song screen.
If some people like the existing workflow (Save button - window closed) then that could stay.
Maybe add an additional button (e.g. "next") that takes you to the Song Details screen:
